Most of the time the better player is better against practically all pitchers and in all situations. On those rare occasions when he's not, I agree that a platoon makes sense. Platooning 6 or 7 spots to show how SABR-savvy you are seems extremely unlikely to be justifiable by any objective measure not involving voodoo math.
