Of Course his BABIP is going to be higher because he doesn't have any home runs and has more hits then Gross does.

That makes absolutely no sense.

Why not? You get BABIP by

{H-HR}/{AB-K-HR}

Because on average about 30% of balls a batter hits in play (not homeruns or strikeouts) are going to fall for hits. Now of course you're going to get some on the high end of the spectrum and others on the low end of the spectrum. Now usually you expect the range to fall anywhere between .290-.310 but when you get somebody so high in the spectrum like Gwynn it seems he's getting incredibly lucky and Gross at about .220 getting incredibly unlucky. Expect those to even out sooner rather than later.

But even if we did get otsuka i still don't see him beating out turnbow in the 8th.

Or maybe Gwynn is going to be used in another trade package for Griffey.

I think Gwynn is an outstanding defensive CF,but seriously question if he'll ever hit well enough to be worthy of everyday playing time in the majors.

Give him 500 at bats and i think big league pitchers will expose him.
