Brewers Interested In Lofton

I wouldn't give up much for him at 40, but he's having a good year, would be a good bench player.

unfortunately, i don't think the rangers have any intentions of letting him go for cheap at the deadline. especially after we housed them in the carlos lee trade.
i would do gross and mid-level prospect at best. actually, maybe not--kenny lofton on a one-year, $6 mil deal....gabe gross is on a one-year, $398,000 deal. both are FA. seems like an easy way to end up with nothing.

Lofton
Hardy
Braun

Hart
Hall
Jenkins
Estrada
Pitcher
I'd be happy with that lineup.
Hall isn't going back to the infield unless it's an emergency. The Brewers made that clear in Spring Training.
But I thought up a trade proposal. The Rangers aren't going anywhere this season, so they're going to be sellers.
I think this deal would really benefit the Brewers. Lofton would allow the Brewers to move Hart down to a run-producing role, and Otsuka would give the Brewers help in the bullpen.
I like Gwynn, but I don't think he's really in the Brewers' plans. IMO, Matt LaPorta could be up in 2009 as the starting LF, while Hall will still be the CF and Hart will still be the RF. Thus, Gwynn will have nowhere to play.
Jenkins, well, if he stays his option for next year will be declined. We could just trade him by July 31 and get something in return.
If the Brewers do this deal, I think they'll have the divison locked-up.
Lineup:
Lofton
Hardy
Braun
Fielder
Hart
Hall
Estrada
Weeks
The lineup looks funny, but hey, that's the best I can think of.

Why would the Rangers want Jenkins? They're out of it so they don't want his salary they'll want prospects (most likely pitching) in return.

One of the biggest cancers ever.. He's also rumored to be coming back here for a 3rd stint..
We had K-Love for his prime years during our great 90's run, and he was great... However, he, along with Belle and Murray were so ego driven..
There's a reason he's played on 10+ teams... I don't really follow the 'crew, but if they have a good team camaraderie, you don't want this guy.. He bosses players around, he insists a certain music must be played in the clubhouse..

if the crew indeed does decide to trade tg jr they should try to get more value than old balls lofton and otsuka. don't get me wrong, they're both having good seasons and all, but jermaine dye is out there too and i've read that the sox would love to get their hands on gwynn jr. it looks like dye is finally swingin the bat well now too. the only thing is they wont get the bullpen help with this trade. it'll be interesting to see how manny parra pans out in the bigs. i'm anxious to see him pitch and i'm sure the franchise is too.

So you wouldn't trade Gwynn for Lofton who is having a better season than Dye or Otsuka who is a very good reliever that we would have control over for the next 3 years but you would trade him for a 33 year old free agent to be having a terrible year?
Can't argue with that logic.
