Brewers' minor leaguer suspended 50 games

NEW YORK (TICKER) -- Milwaukee Brewers minor leaguer Angel Salome was suspended 50 games on Tuesday for violating the drug prevention and treatment program.

Salome is the 18th player in the minors to be assessed the minimum penalty since the start of December.

The 21-year-old catcher was hitting .318 with six homers and 53 RBI in 68 games with Brevard County of the Class A Florida State League.

Damn. I liked this kid. Hope he comes back strong and makes better decisions.

Oh no...

Truthfully, I hope this is a steroids or greenies thing and not an issue of street drugs like coke or heroin.

angel salome is 5'7" and 190 soaking wet. if anybody needed the drugs, it was him.

i don't think this hinders us too much. he may or may not be the catcher of the future, but he's got a long way to go anyway.

Pudge Rodriguez is listed at 5'9", 195. Does he need any drugs?

Salome has all the muscle he needs.

Actually Pudge has whispers about him using performance enhancing drugs when he was in Texas during the Rafael Palmerio and Jose Canseco days. He once was around 215 and went down in weight to 190 or so.
