Considering he's now hitting in front of, at the very least, as good of a hitter as Fielder, I really don't understand how that would have anything to do with it.

And now they aren't challenging Hardy because if they walk him they face Braun then Prince instead of Prince then Estrada?
The fact is, the guy directly behind Hardy leads the NL in OPS and the guy after him is 7th in OPS and 1st in HR. Braun has probably been the best hitter in the NL since he was called up in May.
Braun hits a HR once every 13.2 ABs; Prince, every 12.4. You don't want men on base in front of these guys.
I'd say Hardy is the most well protected hitter in the NL right now considering the two guys directly behind him. I'm sure teams are saying, "don't pitch to Hardy, that Braun kids got nothing (spits tobacco)."
