Scientists have concluded a study that has spanned most of the Brewers season. Here are their results:

They could use some contact hitters. Fielder is starting to learn that more and more over last few days. Hardy is not a great number 2 hitter. We have Braun and Prince. The people ahead of them need to get on. Not hit homers.

Yeah, if you don't throw Hardy a fastball, you are good. He's just not really a good hitter overall, he's an average one.

It's amazing how far Hardy has fallen after being moved from hitting in front of Fielder. Coincedence? You decide.

i dont mind the drop off in James Jerry Hardy's stats, now look at who is hitting in front of the Prince----the R.O.Y

Considering he's now hitting in front of, at the very least, as good of a hitter as Fielder, I really don't understand how that would have anything to do with it.

Yes and that hitter is hitting in front of Fielder. Unless you expected Braun to come up and do this (be honest you know you didn't) then it might be true. Fact is he's still a rookie and is insanely good against lefties which makes his stats much, much better.

vs left- .509 .576 1.164 1.740
vs right- .290 .325 .490 .815

He's also prone to the strikeout and doesn't walk a ton, although that's getting better and probably will improve so there is no reason to give Hardy a fastball when you still have a rookie batting behind him.

Since Braun has taken over the 3 spot in the lineup Hardy's power is gone (4 HR; 8 extra base hits) his last homerun came on June 25th. He has a line of .213/.286/.310/.596 since Braun came up.

I honestly don't think that's a coincedence. They were challenging Hardy early in the season because they didn't want to walk him with Prince coming up next with runners on the same thing is happening with Braun right now.

And Braun doesn't provide any protection? He's only been one of the best hitters in the NL in his 53 games. He has Fielder in BA (by a lot), OBP, and SLG (by quite a bit).

And now they aren't challenging Hardy because if they walk him they face Braun then Prince instead of Prince then Estrada?

The fact is, the guy directly behind Hardy leads the NL in OPS and the guy after him is 7th in OPS and 1st in HR. Braun has probably been the best hitter in the NL since he was called up in May.

Braun hits a HR once every 13.2 ABs; Prince, every 12.4. You don't want men on base in front of these guys.

I'd say Hardy is the most well protected hitter in the NL right now considering the two guys directly behind him. I'm sure teams are saying, "don't pitch to Hardy, that Braun kids got nothing (spits tobacco)."

Agreed...I think JJ's magical run ran out a while ago. I would like him to be used in bunt/strategic situations more often now.

But Ned probably doesn't see it that way he wants to have JJ keep swinging for the fences so all the 14 year old girls can keep voting him for WE Energies High Energy Player of the Year. :nonono:
