Doing Yost's job and cleaning up the 'pen

Post#1 » by Captain Erv » Fri Jul 27, 2007 3:18 am

Alright, well I think we are all sick of Yost changing the lineup every single day. That is not a recipe for success. Yes, guys do need days off every once in awhile, but not all at the same time. This needs to be the most consistent lineup in my opinion.

Vs Righties:
RF Corey Hart
SS JJ Hardy
3B Ryan Braun
1B Prince Fielder
CF Bill Hall
C Johnny Estrada
LF Geoff Jenkins
2B Craig Counsell

VS Lefties:
RF Corey Hart
SS JJ Hardy
3B Ryan Braun
1B Prince Fielder
CF Bill Hall
C Johnny Estrada
LF Kevin Mench
2B Tony Graffanino

Bench: Weeks, Jenkins/Mench, Gwynn, Miller, Graffanino/Counsell

The bullpen has also been crap lately and needs to be organized.

Long relief (5th/6th/7th): Parra
Situational lefty (whenever): Shouse
Middle Relief (6th/7th): Villanueva, Wise
Setup (7th/8th): Linebrink, Turnbow
Closer (9th): Cordero

Get rid of Ball Four and keep Gwynn up and send down Spurling.

EDIT: I realize Parra is starting on Saturday so Spurling will likely be around for awhile longer. Unless we decide to keep 13 pitchers and 12 position players.

Also, a message to the starting rotation --

Gallardo: our only reliable pitcher right now, just have to protect the arm.

Vargas:
maybe get to 7th inning once.

Capuano: stay consistent.

Bush: learn to pitch on the road.

Suppan: get your **** together and be the example we brought you in to be!

Estrada should hit no higher than 7th.

I think weeks should start more often than not.

I have to agree. Counsell and Grafanino are more consistent hitters and we lose nothing defensively. Weeks has gotten a lot better with the glove, but his bat stinks right now.
