Let me get in on this too!

Bet on a complete guess not related to winnable probability?

I’d hate to play Battleship with you guys...

Actually I’d hate to play Battleship against anyone. That game sucks.

He's not even going to be suspended, much less released.

And my favorite Battleship story. He sets up his ships and I make it look like I'm setting up mine. I let him go first and about 20 turns in I have two of his ships and he's all over the board with none of mine and he's getting so frustrated that he hasn't had a single hit yet. So we play like 10 more turns, I get another ship, he still doesn't have a hit and then I tell him you can't get a hit if you don't put your ships on the board.

I'm one of the most vocal opponents of bigotry here - I work on these issues as part of my day job - and even I wouldn't release him over things he posted on Twitter when he was a teenager. Unlike the some of the other prominent incidents of bigotry (Chris Bosio or Riley Cooper), these things weren't said recently before their discovery. It doesn't make it less upsetting to people reading the tweets and engaging with it today, but that context does matter when considering how much they reflect on his ability to be a model teammate and human being.

He should have the opportunity to apologize, show sincere contrition, and commit himself to learn and to be better. I'm not saying that because he is a Brewer. I'm saying that because he is a human being and human beings grow and learn and have the capacity to improve themselves.

If he doesn't take it seriously - if he brushes it aside or refuses to hold himself accountable, then shove his ass out the door. Until then, though, I'm willing to afford him a chance to demonstrate that he takes this seriously and wants to do what he can to prove that he isn't an ****.
