Schoop missed a homer by 5 feet today for a sac fly, a 2 RBI hit and had a pretty good play to end the game. I'd say its official hes turning a corner. Would be great timing to get one more guy contributing. Now if only he can start in front of Hernan

Sometimes guys are reliant on timing and the idea of "coming around" exists.

Schoop is like playing roulette. I'm not so sure that he's "in a groove" or it's just more likely that when he swings at everything and puts the ball in play 70% of times he's at the plate that it finds green space for a hit. Sometimes you'll bet red and only win 1 of the 10 times. Sometimes you'll bet 1/3 of the board and win 8 out of 10. He's always putting lots of plays on the roulette board and streaks come randomly.

I'd love it if he catches fire but it's pretty much random luck with him and you can shade his luck to when he faces **** pitchers (he has been lately).

That said, as the resident "give Schoop some time" guy...

Schoop with Brewers: .225/.276/.375/.651 3 HR
Dozier with Dodgers: .202/.318/.367/.685 4 HR, 3 SB

Not such a huge difference anymore. Both haven't been great but just for those who were furious about not getting Dozier...

Schoop surprising me and being a competent mlb player the last 20 some games would honestly be the highlight of the season for me. I just see a hacker with little to no plate discipline, an average at best fielder, and not a very heady player. I remain solidly unconvinced. And, I agree he has certainly fared better as of late And I remain surprised I was the only one partially disgusted by that effort on the chopper down the line by Jennings. Anywho, here’s hoping!

Ortiz got hammered in his debut the other night
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

His OPS with us thus far is over 1.8. He's having the perfectly opposite start as Schoop had with us.

The Orioles are 63 games under .500. That is utterly impressive. How is that possible?

Far too early for him to be in the majors, it's not too surprising. Poor kid has no chance at this point vs major league talent

I agree with this take but I wonder if he'll ever be good. For a guy with a "live arm" he was barely striking anyone out in the minors. His numbers looked like a guy that threw 91 and pitched to contact rather than a flamethrower with a slider.

The "live arm" always leaves open the opportunity for one little mechanical switch or improvement to turn him into a good MLB pitcher, but right now it may not happen.

I only have the data on his 2.1 hilariously bad MLB innings but it looks like he only has thrown 92 so far. If so, I'm even less optimistic about his chances.

I mean, the Orioles are so unbelievably bad what do they have to lose? Might as well give him a shot and see what happens. As long as they don't keep running him out there to the point where they break his confidence I think it's fine.

I don't anyone thinks they shouldn't be running him out there. I think livestrong just was saying maybe he's not ready yet and I'm wondering if he'll ever be ready. But they might as well try.
