Not me look at the numbers Abreu has put up. Someone who could consistently got on base in front of Braun and Fielder would be great. Plus he's older so we probably wouldn't have to give him a 5-6 year deal.

Look at his OBP. .413 since 1998.

I just think Rowand would bring something Bobby couldnt. Aaron was the heart and soul of the CWS series champs. I think Rowand could be that guy for us. And he would fit in immediatly as our lead-off guy.

I really don't get "heart and soul" he was a pretty bad player last year and for the 2005 White Sox. We all bitch about Weeks leading off and he has the same career OBP as Rowand.

I lived in Chicago during that run. Rowand was the heart of that team. Once he left that team died...

Rowand would work well. Dont get al caught up in career stats to much on this one...

They died so much that they still finished with 90 wins only this time the division was much better than the one in 2005.

Umm that's not the point. The point is one player does not make a team go from a World Series team to nothing. Especially not a player like Aaron Rowand.

Talent wins games. If the White Sox would've gotten the same performances from their starters in 2006 than they did in 2005 they would've been right back in the playoffs and probably would've had another great chance to win the World Series.

Just look at how good their starting pitching was in 2005 compared to 2006.

Garland:

2005- 3.50 ERA
2006- 4.51 ERA

Buehrle:

2005- 3.12 ERA
2006- 4.99 ERA

Contreras:

2005- 3.61 ERA
2006- 4.51 ERA

Garcia:

2005- 3.87 ERA
2006- 4.54 ERA

But I guess Rowand being traded made all those pitchers pitch worse the next year.

Same thing every game. Score early, relax, watch the other team nibble way and then the other team explodes for a big inning. Ned, can you please keep the lineup how it was before? Hardy should not bat 2nd, he's better in the 8th spot. Also Nedly, GET CAPUANO OUT OF THE FRICKEN ROTATION!! Is it really that hard to figure out Ned? For god sakes. Pathetic.

You know i do know of one more guy who gets way to caught up in stats trwi7. I thik you want him fired dont you. Talent obviously just doesnt win game or we would be running away with it. You need heart, vets, leaders, and winners. YOu missed the whole point...

There is no point. The whole veteran, leader, gamer, winner thing is overstated.

Seriously believe what you want but it was their starting pitching not having the years that they did in 2005 that was the cause of them not making the playoffs last year.

It's hard for me to guess who the real Aaron Rowand is.He's always been a very good defensive CF and in 2004/2007 he was also a very productive hitter. In 2005/2006,he was a subpar offensive player, regardless how swell of a guy he was.

I believe that he'll be a free agent this offseason. If anyone gives him a pretty big contract, they are rolling the dice on which bat shows up with him.The Brewers really do need to upgrade their team defense and Rowand would help, but whether i'd like Melvin to make a move there would depend entirely on the money needed.

One thing that would make me a bit leery of Rowand is he's another guy who doesn't like to take walks much, that's already i big problem on this roster. To many guys that are batting average dependent to get on base at a good clip and Rowand fits that mold. When the batting averages dip,the bases get empty because a good walk rate isn't there.Hate using a cliche, but it's so true, can't score a run while sitting in the dugout.

Exactly. That's why I'm a big advocate of going after Abreu. His $16 million option will likely be declined and he'd be a great OBP guy to hit in front of Prince and Braun. Of course it's not likely to happen but an Abreu type player is what this team needs.
