Un-believ-able. I've left this team for dead a number of different times this year. But always with the caveat "that said, they're one 5-game win streak from being right there." Well, they couldn't have picked a better time to go streaking. Obviously there are no serious expectations with the Yelich injury and everything has transpired with our pitching staff, but I'm still fully enjoying the ride.

As much **** as Counsell gets around here sometimes, he doesn't let these guys give up. This team was dead in the water a few weeks ago.

Yes!!! I can’t believe it. What’s even crazier is that we are back to having a small shot at the division even.

Woodruff and Hiura coming back soon will also be a nice boost.

Dubon is off to a decent start, but Black is probably well worth it in return, plus Pomeranz apparently expressed desire not to move around anymore so maybe they have a slight inside track to keep him.

Looks like Cards and Cubs will win today but as of now we're still tied for WC. Is it sustainable? Who knows but it's fun nevertheless.

It would be crazy to tie the Cubs for the second wild card and then play a tiebreaker against them for a shot at the Nats. We'd have home field for the tiebreaker.

Hopefully this is sustainable w/out Yelich, and not just partially a honeymoon effect byproduct. It's still a good offense on paper w/out Yelich, and now they can expand their bullpen usage. Arms needed to start pitching up to potential, and it'd be nice to get Woodruff back to add another shutdown guy for a few innings.

One of those relievers who had been recently under-performing had been Hader. But now he has 9 straight outings w/out allowing a run. And I think that's in part committing to that 2nd complementary pitch finally, once the fastball w/out keeping pitchers off balance had by and large been figured out. Not only is he using the slider more now, but sometimes it acts more as a slurve, meaning it's set up better off the high cheese.

This is really interesting to his arm stamina, slider is harder on the arm. So throw fastballs at the beginning of the year and then ramp up the slider later? Idk if this is their thinking but the stats kind of show it. By design i guess is the ?

It's possible, but Occam's Razor is the fastball heavy attack was working, until it wasn't, so they adjusted.

Well, they were playing the Marlins so that is a major factor. You might've been able to remove 2 other key players and the Brewers would win 3 or all 4 games in that series.

Agree that they still have a good roster though and September Craig and mix-and-match his way to a good record against mostly bad teams. In which case we'd have basically no shot against the Nats and then into a Dodgers series...but I think most would take getting WC2 in this **** season as a huge victory/the prize.
