I think we either get Salazar and another player for Santana or Carrasco for Santana and another prospect.

If we get Archer and sign another pitcher, I am all in.

No matter what happens, kudos to MA for finding Stearns, and who woulda thunk Stearns could have re-built in the time span he did. Say what you will about being a year or two early, you would have to be a fool not to give the guy the absolute benefit of the doubt at this point. Stearns is a beast. To think of the dark days compared to now....

absolutely love getting yelich even though we gave up a haul, all those OF prospects won't be needed now(still have plenty of depth at that position in minors anyway)and hung onto all our promising pitching prospects....i think its a good shot that 2 out of those 3 hitters don't make it or do much of anything in the show as they all have a decent shot of being a bust and i like that we sold high on them now because you just never know...hey i could also eat my words and all 3 our all stars in 5 years

I must say, I'm a bit surprised by the amount of negative reactions to these deals. Yes, at first I was disappointed that Brinson was a part of the package for Yelich, but 5 minutes later, I came to my senses.
I understand that this was our #1 prospect, but 5 years of Yelich (a proven commodity) is worth much more than Brinson (an unknown) right now. Sure, Brinson could end up being a superior player to Yelich in the long run, but the odds of that happening are slim. The odds of him being a similar player, production-wise, are much better. But the odds of him never reaching that level of play are just the same. Brinson could be a star, or he could flame out like many have before him. The truth is, we DON'T KNOW. What do we know? Yelich is a damn good player that will help this team now, and he's locked up for many years.
And as far as Cain.....everyone is concerned about how many years are on his deal. Why? Who f*cking cares? Will he help this team for the next couple years? YES! Is it YOUR money being spent? No! Quit playing armchair GM and just be happy that your team is actually trying to be relevant, for once. Seriously, do some of you think that the Brewers are gonna build some sort of dynasty or something? Do you think that all of our prospects are just gonna bloom at the exact same time and then dominate the league for the next decade? It's not gonna happen. That's not how it works.
Teams, especially small-market, operate within windows. When a window presents itself, you go all in. If it doesn't work, oh well, you wait for the next window. Thanks to Stearns' rebuild, the Brewers have a window right now, and it's apparent that they're going for it. I'm not sure why any Brewers fans are mad about this. Most of us have only seen two playoff appearances in our lifetime. Again, there are no dynasties, so let's go for broke and see what happens. If, three years from now, the Brewers still have failed to make a WS run, so what? How is that any different from every other Brewers team we've unconditionally loved?

Imagine signing Darvish, Arrieta and trading Santana for Archer....Would be an amazing team to watch this year.
Personally we should just keep Santana unless he gives you something good in return. Just move Braun to first and keep Santana in Right.

No way we could/would/should sign Arrieta and Darvish. Just trade for a TOR guy and see what free agent TOR guy we can grab, that will likely be about our cap on where our payroll will be, IMO.

I also heard a couple "Santana's trade value is now shot because of the order Stearns made these trades" takes on talk radio on my way into the office.
Wouldn't Santana now have more value since two big name OF's are no longer available? Also I doubt very much that Stearns is just now trying to find a trade partner for Domingo. He's probably had the framework in place for multiple deals with multiple teams for weeks or months. Its not like the Brewers are just going to give Santana away now that they have whats perceived to be a crowded outfield.

Yeah. No half measures. If they're making a run, make one goddammit.
Yeah thats exactly whats happening. Excited for today.

Strongly think that he had pre-arranged trades before the Cain signing. Plus there is no need to trade Santana, since Braun will make the move to 1b

Couple things here:
First... Where are people getting the idea that Braun will actually move to first? Or that he will be good at it? I used to laugh, saying it's 1B anyone can do it, until I saw Juan Francisco...
Second... I don't think any of you guys understand the value of pitching, or just how much value the Cleveland SPs have. I've seen mentions of Santana for Salazar (some saying we'd get more) and other or Santana and a spec for Carrasco. I can't imagine either of these deals being close for Cleveland. Carrasco was one of the best pitchers in baseball last year, and Salazar (albeit injury concern) easily has a #2 makeup.
Lastly... can I marry Stearns? This is going to be such an exciting year to watch, and we aren't even done making moves yet!

I fully assumed this was pre-done too, I mean it's only logical. All I said is when you see tweets that they're being shopped that makes you go maybe not quite so hopefully it's not the case. It's not like the reporters know everything.
and no it would hurt Santana's value as everyone knows they're really need to move him. We can speculate Braun will move to 1B and we know he said he would but we have no idea if that's realistic and all other teams would doubt it too. Really if they were gonna move Braun they shoujld have done it last year and not signed Thames, so I doubt it's in the plans now. Still I think he had a couple options for Santana pre arranged and any 'shopping' was to have those teams give their final offer. Stearns isn't dumb.

That would be 27(?) HR, not bad
What I think I love the most out of that is the number of foul outs. Only like 8, and 4 wouldn't have been outs at MP... beautiful thing.

When did Braun say he would? Did he have some blanket quote about doing whatever is best for the team?

Looks like a heck of a hitter and certainly reasonably to think he can increase his home runs by 5 or so.

Santana, Aguilar, Prospect(s) for Archer
Sign Walker to a modest deal?
Sign Lucroy to a modest deal?
