Re: 2024 ATL Thread - Willie Mays RIP
It really irks me that Helsley will probably get an ASG berth over Hudson, so I dove into the numbers just to get myself even more riled up.
Helsley has saved eight 1-run games, nine 2-run games, and FOURTEEN 3-run games. He's never worked more than 2 days in a row, never worked more than 4 times in 7 days, and only pitched more than 1 inning once. Hudson obviously works less frequently, but that's because he has pitched more than 1 inning EIGHTEEN times.
My point is that Helsley has been really lucky that his team manages to set him up for a save situation nearly every time he's rested and ready to work, and it's often a 3-run save. Giving him an ASG berth for his saves would be like giving a big RBI guy a berth even though a lot of his RBI's came on groundouts. The credit should go to the guys putting him in that situation, not to the player. He's been good, but his saves should not be the reason he gets in over about a half dozen more deserving relievers, whether they're closers or not.

Keston having a good first two games with the Angels
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Arraez over Turang might be the biggest disgrace in any ASG I can remember in my lifetime.

Exhibit A why the national anthem (and God Bless America and all that other jingoistic bull) should **** right off during sporting events.

This is taking **** forever, right? We're 50 minutes into the broadcast and three players have gone in Round 1.

I know most thought it did years ago, but HR Derby has totally jumped the shark. This is ridiculously **** stupid.

Well that makes all the meme-ing less fun (appropriately). Makes some sense with how the performance went, though. Good luck to her.

Re: 2024 ATL Thread - Willie Mays RIP
I believe this is the first pro network to do this, but MLB Network can now be bought as a standalone product for $5.99/month with the option to add At Bat for another $1/month. If you have MLB.TV it is complimentary for rest of the year, unsure if it will be for 2025 & beyond.
Of all the networks, I feel MLB is the best. I get it through DirecTV Stream and now MLB.TV but I would probably pay the $5.99/month. Really enjoy their AM programming.

That's great to know. I'll probably pick it up. I already have At-Bat and I use it often.

Re: 2024 ATL Thread - Willie Mays RIP
I personally support the "bites of the apple" way the Brewers do it, and obviously the Orioles and previously the Padres needed a lot of tanking to get here - both teams are ones that you want to root for - EXCEPT - I hate the narrative when we trade one of our guys if said team wins the World Series...so I'm kind of rooting for them to put all of their eggs into 2024-2025, fail to win it all, and basically just be a decent team after that (a la the Padres with the embarrassment of riches they had 2-3 years ago).

O's system is loaded but they avoided giving up any top prospects. Rays opted for quantity.

I think the trade equivalent from the Brewers side would be RHP Logan Henderson, IF Jadher Areinamo, and OF Carlos D. Rodriguez.
