I thought Fedde specifically made a ton of sense for the Brewers (pitching well but also under control for relatively cheap next year). He's headed to the Cardinals instead it appears.

Seems like a good deal for Cardinals if Fedde keeps pitching well. Pham can be a good hitter even if a little volatile. If he goes off the rails, can just release him.

I'm confused by that one. All the Cardinals are giving up in this deal is Edman? Not a single prospect going out from them? That seems like a pretty sweet deal.

The Trevor Rogers trade kinda mirrors the Montas one:

Stowers is Weimer - Interesting guy with prospect cachet but probably AAAA guys.

Junis/Norby is a different comparison. Junis is a known commodity in the majors and will help, Norby has huge upside but may also be an average MLB guy.

Rogers/Montas are both "they once had stuff to be great pitchers. Maybe a smarter organization can do something with them."

That's an insane price to pay for Rogers.

Obviously, one of these guys like Weimer or Stowers is going to blast off and make this look stupid...but I think we also see how some prospects can be overvalued, too.

Stowers and Weimer are unlikely to be overly useful in the MLB. Both are nice to have in your system as a lotto ticket and depth for power or defense or whatever. That is great for the Marlins as they need to add more of these guys.

If you look at Norby's great AAA season, it's up there with Keston Hiura and Jake Burger's star AAA seasons when you look at ratios and numbers. All guys were ~25 when doing so. Norby is probably an MLB guy and has upside, but very well could have major K issues like the other two.

It's great to have depth - it's how the Brewers continue to succeed...but the Astros of 5-10 years ago and this O's team have too much of it and need to clear some out.

Saw Brett Phillips signed a minor league deal with the Yankees…as a pitcher. He hit 97 in a recent game. Be cool story if makes it. He seems like a good dude and was always rooting for him when was big prospect here.

Unless we get a wild flurry late, otherwise shaping up to be a pretty anti-climatic deadline day league wide. Still quite a few big rumored names not moved yet…

I wish I had video of him just strolling over to the other dugout. MLB trade deadline is fun.

I **** hate the Dodgers. They just buy and buy whether it's with money or prospects or both. How much help does one team need?

Not knowing anything but just going off prospect rankings this does not seem in line with the return other pitchers were bringing.
