From rebuild to pretty skilled in a day or two. Impressive.

Didn't realize the Cubs added Chatwood in the offseason. That's a sneaky good move, he had a great second half last year on Colorado. It would be awesome if we could add at least one more legit starter.

It seems inevitble another P will be added. You don't do all this and then leave such a glaring hole.
Even if it's the most basic option of just solid Cobb.
Cobb, Anderson, Davies, Chacin, Woodruff with Nelson coming back midseason is descent. At least better than what they had going into last year and that turned out well.

They need to be able to sign Darvish/Arrieta and flip Santana + Broxton for a #2 to make this feasible in the short-term. Would really balance out their rotation from looking like a major liability to overcome that would probably suck them back near .500 to solid with a strong lineup that should make them one of the league favorites.

Yes, all of this.
We're obviously going all in, and since we are I'll get behind it because it's going to be a f'n ride with this lineup. But then let's finish it off right. I'll be really interested to see how the rest comes together. You've gotta get more arms to do it right - that has to be prioritized over keeping Santana and rolling with the best lineup, unfortunately. If you can do both, amazing. If you can't, then you gotta get more pitching.
Olney was tweeting out last night that the Brewers were confident that some of their pitching prospects were going to make a leap this year. Woodruff, Ortiz, and Peralta? It's got to be too early for Burnes, no?

Burnes is far more advanced than Ortiz and Peralta.

I know there was talk of moving Hader to the rotation but I think he'll stay in the pen.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I'm seeing ETAs of 2018 on Ortiz and Peralta and ETAs on Burnes of 2019, at least on MLB Pipeline. Frangraphs has Ortiz at 2018 and Peralta and Burnes at 2019.

Burnes, Ortiz, and Perrin all got ST invites. So its safe to assume those are the guys theyre looking at to help the MLB club this year. Houser and Williams will be on that same radar for pen jobs. Peralta and Diplan are both on the 40 man so thats not out of the realm either.

I think if they're aiming to win immediately with a bunch of players around 30 they can't bank on prospects making the leap. That has to be considered more of a bonus and hopefully the replacements when those guys get too old so they don't miss a beat. If they can sign Darvish/Arrieta and trade from their outfield surplus to pick up a short-term answer in the #2 role, there should still be plenty left in the farm for the next wave. Then in a couple years you think about transitioning to Burnes, Ortiz, Hader, Peralta, and the like.

I'd be all for completely loading up the pitching staff and just enjoying an all-in 3-4 year period (still have my reservations, but whatever)...but I think they could get by with just adding one guy (my preference is via FA and move Braun to 1st part-time). If it's gonna be Santana traded, I'd prefer it just be Santana and not much more.
Hader could be a starter again down the line and they've got enough with the young guys to fill out the #5 spot with good pitching. FA or Santana trade guy, Anderson, Davies, Chacin, Woodruff is solid. Nelson eventually joining. Agree that maybe it leaves a bit to be desired if you're truly going for it and want 5 locked and loaded good pitchers.

I fully think they expect Woodruff to be a key member of the rotation.

Well it was pretty obviously a joke from the beginning for anyone who has been there for at minimum a year and paid even the slightest bit of attention.

To be fair to Twirl, there are some dumbass posters on that board. There's a reason why I never post there. Too much mind-numbing crap.

Cardinals for 6 and Cubs for 4 in the first 2 weeks of the season. Love it
