I don't think I would go that far, especially if Odorizzi is included. He's far and away the Brewers best pitching prospect.

I am really hoping this includes an extension. Otherwise it is 6 years of Odorizzi, 6 years of Jeffress, 4/5 years of Escobar and 5 years of Cain for 2 years of Greinke.

You don't have to, but I will. Melvin just added a legitimate Ace that throws 95-96 and has a lethal changeup like Lincecum. I'll take that everyday and twice on sunday over anyone the brewers just gave up.

I am fully aware of how good Greinke is, but you also have to factor in that we gave up four pretty talented players, including a guy that projects as an ace if he continues to progress at the level he has (Odorizzi). Jeffress could be a stud closer, and Cain has showed a lot. It's not like we didn't give up a ton here either.

Sign Greinke to an extension (although this doesn't HAVE to be done this offseason), lock up Weeks and I'll be very excited going into 2011.

I just wish Odorizzi wasn't in this deal. We ARE giving up a ton.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I'm still saying Melvin pulled off highway robbery. Also considering a team like the Rangers actually could have topped that offer because their farm system is much stronger.

I think I like this just because I'm sick of all of our teams being stuck in the mud. The bucks have such a slim chance of ever being title contenders. The brewers have been to the playoffs only once in how long? It's been 14 years since the last packers super bowl. Finally we've got the badgers basketball where the pinnacle of success is a big ten title.

I don't see how you can consider this "highway robbery". You also have to look at what we gave up. If Cain and Esocbar were in our system this year, we just gave up four of our top 10 prospects.

Were the ones getting molested in this trade but its still hard not to like...

I preferred the Garza price.

They'll lock up Greinke.

I don't mind us "going for it". I just wish we had a SS and CF who had CAREER OBP of over .300

Odorizzi does not project as an ace. No idea where you got that from. A good #2 is what he projects at. Most scouts say a #3. Anytime you land an ace pitcher without giving up any stars of your own its a winning situation.

I'll admit Cain is tough loss and his departure could unfortunately mean more Gomez. But the rest of that trade package is not as great as you're making it seem.

Escobar offers no OBP. Jeffress can light up the radar gun, but his command is god awful.

There is no way to say definitively that #2 is his ceiling. I've read all his scouting reports, he can be an ace as he develops.

My point is that there is no way anyone can sell me that this is a "steal" for the Crew. We got a stud pitcher, but we also gave up a ton of talent. Lets not act like we bent the Royals over here. In fact, I'd say if we don't extend Greinke we probably end up losing this deal long-term.

I'll have a better idea of how good Odorizzi can be when he gets to double A. I've seen too many pitchers dominate low A and fizzle out against advanced hitting.

Cain is the most difficult piece for me to give up. If you loom at the other packages rumored by other teams ours is by far the lowest in value.

But they aren't in our system this wear and Alcides has really struggled against big leave pitching. I agree with you its not a major raping by us. Still though we win this trade.

Haudricourt hearing it might be a PTBNL instead of Jeffress. I'd like the deal even more.

if the package we offered was indeed less than what others were offering does that mean mr anxiety disorder possibly told them he wanted to go to the low media scruntiny of Milwaukee?
