ReasonablySober wrote:With Made's DSL season over I thought it'd be fun to look at his age 17 season vs Chourio's age 17 season.

Chourio / Made

Age: 17 / 17 (Made was actually two months younger in their age 17 seasons in the DSL)
Games: 45 / 51
PA: 189 / 216
H: 47 / 58
SO: 28 / 28
BB: 23 / 39
HR: 5 / 6
R: 31 / 63
RBI: 25 / 28
SB: 8 / 28
BB%: 12.2% / 18.1%
K%: 14.8% / 13.0%
ISO: .151 / .223
BABIP: .323 / .369
AVG: .296 / .331
OBP: .386 / .458
SLG: .447 / .554
wOBA: .403 / .491
wRC+: 131 / .169

Chourio played 32 games in CF, 6 at 2B, and DH'd 7 times.
Made played 27 games at SS, 12 games at 3b, 9 games at 2B, and DH'd 4 times.

Made batted primarily as a LHB with 184 PA (1.036 OPS), but he wasn't bad at all from the right side (32 PA, .889 OPS).

A lot of surface level data here, but holy ****, right?

Chourio put himself on the prospect radar with that age 17 season, but he put himself on the superstar Best Prospect in Baseball track with his age 18 season, where he dominated Low A Carolina and held his own in A at Wisconsin before getting a cup of coffee in Biloxi. One of the stories of 2025 is going to be how Made performs when he gets state-side and if the Brewers are as aggressive with him as they were with Chourio.

It's nice that Made is getting looks all over the infield, because there's no shortage of prospects he's going to have to pass by. By my estimation, these are the guys he's going to be competing with:

Luis Pena, 17 (he also dominated the DSL)
Josh Adamczewski, 19
Cooper Pratt, 20
Jadher Areinamo, 20
Luke Adams, 20
Mike Boeve, 22
Brock Wilken, 22

Dark horse candidates:
Juan Baez, 19
Filippo Di Turi, 18
Eric Brown Jr., 23

He's gonna be a minor league FA at the end of the year unless the Brewers add him to the 40 man. He's never really been much of a prospect, and he's old for AA, but man. Dude has been on a heater over the second half of the season in 50 games: .341/.437/.540.

I'd like to have him back if they can find a spot.

From that BA link above, on Made.

Jesus Made, SS, Brewers
This might seem like hyperbole, but Made has the makings of a future No. 1 overall prospect, and the data and scout feedback support this statement. In 2024, Made hit .331/.458/.554 with six home runs and 28 stolen bases across 51 Dominican Summer League games. Despite turning 17 years old a month before the DSL season, Made was the most outstanding player in the league this summer. Not only do Made’s skills show up in his slashline, his underlying data is also eye-popping for a 17-year-old. His 104.2 mph 90th percentile EV is easily plus for his age, and he pairs that with elite plate skills. Made’s in-zone miss rate this season was just 9.6% while chasing only 14.9% of the time. It’s extremely rare to see a player this optimized in terms of plate skills and power at such a young age. Made will need to learn to elevate the ball a little more, but when he does elevate he’s shown he can drive the ball to his pull side with consistency.

Pratt with an RBI in the 8th to give the Rattlers a 5-4 lead in the championship series.

BA Hot Sheet.

14. Luke Adams, 3B, Brewers
Team: High-A Wisconsin (Midwest)
Age: 20

Why He’s Here: .455/.571/.727 (5-for-11), 2 R, 0 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 4 RBIs, 3 BB, 3 SO, 4-for-4 SB

The Scoop: Adams’ great underlying data has not caught up to his production as of yet, but last week Adams showed out in the Midwest League playoffs. He put together a string of strong games, reaching base at least twice in all three contests to helping Wisconsin go undefeated. Adams homered in the series-clinching semifinal game against Quad-Cities and then strung together three hits in the opening game of the Midwest League final. Adams has a good balance of plate skills and underlying power he’s still learning to fully harness. One of the more underrated hitting prospects in the minors, Adams could be a breakout candidate in 2025. (GP)

16. K.C. Hunt, RHP, Brewers
Team: Double-A Biloxi (Southern)
Age: 24

Why He’s Here: 1-0, 0.00, 1 GS, 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 SO

The Scoop: In four seasons at Mississippi State, Hunt had a 7.67 ERA. He posted an 8.54 ERA with the Bulldogs in 2023 as a reliever, and those stats didn’t undersell his struggles—he had a WHIP over 2.00 and he had 40 runs allowed in 39 innings thanks to 33 walks. But the Brewers once again have shown they can help a player, even an undrafted free agent, unlock new levels of performance. Hunt threw more innings this year (102) than he had in four college seasons, and he finished with a 2.02 ERA with a better strikeout rate (34%) and a walk rate that dropped from 14% in college to 6% this year. As a Brewer, Hunt has refined his delivery with a step to start his move from the stretch, and he has less of a shoulder tilt/glove raise. It’s working, and Hunt got better and better as the season wore on, logging a 1.67 ERA from July 1 until the end of the season. (JC)

Adams has gotten hit by pitches his first two ABs. Bastards.

ETA: He scores on an RBI by Yophery. Rattlers up 3-2.

Not a great night. Wisconsin loses game one, and Biloxi is down 0-5 in the 3rd.

Brock Wilken has fallen off a cliff in the second half of this season. A .123 average in August followed by a .100 average in September with a 45% strikeout rate across both months. I had high hopes after last year but it's not looking good.

That's a bummer because 3rd is likely their biggest off-season need and he was the most exciting internal option.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Boeve is an option. He's got legit 3B experience (32 games this season) and had a nice year at the plate in Biloxi. Maybe they push him with an aggressive call-up in May next year.

Third base is definitely an interesting one, assuming Ortiz moves to short. Maybe we trade an OF for one as a stop gap.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

This is incredible work even if he never ends up an MLB player.

How did that guy even get a look at a minor league roster? Advanced metrics are crazy nowadays, b/c the face numbers look like he wouldn't be able to hang in their club team rotation.
