Pete Rose is a bit of a weird one - hits different than Mutombo because of his complex persona. His relationships/wives and the public light there, the gambling and his contentious status with the Hall, the rape charges. No doubt this is a big player loss, though.

They'll probably put him in the HOF now.

What a world. Put this one in the Irony Hall of Fame.

As for the Baseball Hall of Fame, I don't think he should have been kept out. Maybe I'm still scarred by the NFL suspending Paul Hornung for betting on the Packers and letting the Bears waltz to the 1963 title, but betting on yourself to win always seemed like a venial sin to me. And now that betting has the MLB imprimatur, even moreso.

Yeah, I get it. Black Sox, blah blah blah. That was over a hundred years ago. And if it's off-the-field morals that's our criterion, the guy who's next in all-time hits, Ty Cobb, was a real Georgia Peach of a racist bastard.

Id put Pete and the steroid era guys in. Make note of the bull on their plaques but the story of baseball feels incomplete without them.

Detroit is on fire, wow. Orioles on the brink too and be a disappointment for them, especially with likely losing Burnes.

Terrified that we're gonna be in the same place as Houston in about five hours.

Any chance ya'll would take Hader back...I'd pay the rest of his salary myself if I could just to send him away.

(I'm equally upset at the bats and Pressly too though, to be faaaaaaair)
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Sorry, we blow games way before we would ever need Hader.

How about Lucas Erceg closing those 2 games? Damn.

Phillies wasted that Wheeler masterclass. Looks like the Mets might make it to the WS and continue our curse.

I almost feel like we need the Mets to lose to either Philly or in the next round to break some sort of curse.

If the Mets do continue the tradition the Brewers are going to have to burn anything 1982 related and hopefully that ends our bad juju.

There's a better chance of Attanasio getting his hands on every piece of '82 memorabilia he can find, putting it on home plate and jerking off on it for our opening day ceremony next year than there is of us throwing a single piece of it away, much less burning it.

Hopefully SD can knock out LA. Would love to see the Dodgers fall short again.
