If they're going to play both sides and not go into a full rebuild like they are publicly claiming then they need to follow through on that.

I think if Attanasio's history has shown us anything, he absolutely will. The question is whether they're going to cobble that together with 2 weeks until ST and not as many names available or do that part in 2025.

We're sitting at $92 million right now, that's with Wong ($2.5 million), Braun ($1.8 million) and Cain ($1 million)

Opening Day Payrolls

2023 - $118.7 million
2022 - $131.9 million
2021 - $99.3 million
2020 - Covid
2019 - $122.0 million

Attendance went up last year from 2.42 million in 2022 to 2.51 million. Still way down from 2019 2.9 million.

I think there is definitely room in the budget but it's getting late.

Willy at $12.5 million and Devin at $7 million would give even more to potentially spend.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I generally like Corbin but it feels like he always has to get in little shots at the organization. He was quick to come right out and say it was going to be his last year as a Brewer and he is looking forward to free agency so it would really be ok for him to just take the high road here.

It's funny looking at DL Hall's fangraphs projections for the ones that slot him in to basically be a reliever this year. Some are giving him 15 starts so it clouds this comparison.

Obviously there is much less of a track record on Hall but he's projected to have a better season than...Josh Hader.

Yeaaaah, whatever. Nothing against him, but I won't miss him much at all. I'll miss Woodruff about 100x more.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a QO comp pick is a QO comp pick, regardless of how good the player was, right? Clearly Burnes was worth much more than just a comp pick in a trade, but Adames might not be. If the return for him is not much better than QO comp pick, then they could very well keep him. I don't think this necessarily signals that he's gone.

Also, DL Hall? Did anyone think to ask why a baseball team is trading for a defensive lineman??

Okay, I'll see myself out.

Personally, I think he should thank his lucky stars that the MLB catered to triggered fans and changed it from Disabled List to Injured List or the jokes would've written themselves.

Is he talking **** on his way out? I haven't seen any but I wouldn't be shocked if he did. Seemed like he was pissed about the arby thing and in general I do kind of feel for these guys who get drafted by the poor teams because they don't have the same opportunity to extend as they would with the rich teams.

But not too bad because I expect he'll do just fine financially moving forward :)

tbh I am surprised Mark A didn't jump on this over paying bigger money to Hoskins

Correct. For the Brewers if make QO and player signs for over 50M to a different team, they get a 1st round comp pick.

Brewers essentially got the comp pick for Burnes this year in the deal plus the 2 prospects. Actually like it more and more.

Outside of his start against the Braves and the no hitter, I just don’t have that many great memories of Burnes despite being an unbelievable pitcher. Was bad in the NLCS in 18, horrible down the stretch 2 years ago and then the arby stuff that followed and then the playoffs this year.

Burnes is very good obviously but the reports that the Os were acquiring a 'post season' pitcher is kind of funny. He's made exactly 2 post season starts, 1 good and 1 not so good.

I mean he had the 10 ks in a row against the Cubs, and he wasn't really that bad in the NLCS, he pitched 5 innings in 4 games and gave up 2 runs which is a 3.60 ERA. Overall during his time here he had an ERA under 3 in the playoffs

Makes sense at this point and if we don't get the offers we want, hope that he gets out to a fast, contract year start and then move him in season.

He got the ball rolling, in combination with jeffress who was falling apart in throwing away that game 2

At this point now seems like it’s inevitable Willy is traded. I will be curious what we get back. Would assume it be something better than the QO comp pick.

I've decided that I really hope they're listening hard on a Devin Williams trade. With two full years of control left, they can obviously elect to be patient if they're not getting what they want. I just think it's highly likely that right now is his peak value.
