That's really incredible. Swept the Dodgers (twice), swept the Phillies
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Some depth I suppose. Not playoff eligible if he's not on the roster by EOD

Urias cant be worse than siegler?

Also, wonder if we look to platoon vaughn and hoskins. Hoskins has actually been better in righty-righty matchups while Vaughn is kind of useless when its R-R but is crushing lefties

Yeah, not sure they're in any hurry to bring Hoskins back. I know he could just need more time and I'm stirring the pot a little, but he's not an ideal fit on the roster with Vaughn's emergence. This could be pretty awkward considering he was expected to be the team's best hitter for 2 years when they signed him.

That said, they have 23 games in 27 days after today - a day off each week, basically - and then they'll likely have a break during the wild card round as well. They could easily go with 15 hitters and 13 pitchers for the rest of the month IMO. It's much easier to manipulate match-ups by using PH's than it is by changing relievers these days.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.

Sure would be nice if Yoho could provide a boost for the bullpen. He has been fantastic in the minors obviously. And if take out that disastrous outing at the White Sox, his ERA is around 2.70 although his WHIP is still kind of high (1.50) even removing that outing.

Curious if Gasser can contribute anything. I do feel like our bullpen needs a boost.

Looks like Hoskins is hitting well in Nashville (.954 OPS). It would be fantastic if he carries that over. Vaughn has good #s this lefties but he has definitely cooled off a bit (.629 OPS in last 4 weeks).

Brice Turang led MLB in slugging, total bases, and OPS in the month of August. :o

These are run values relative to league average in each count, so a negative number means less production than the average major league hitter. In other words, Turang was leaving an absolute pile of value on the table in some of the best conditions to hit. Every time he took a slow swing at a crushable pitch in a good count, he was bailing the opposing pitcher out. Now he’s doing it far less often. As good as big league pitchers are these days, you better get them when they’re at a disadvantage, and now Turang has rebuilt his game around doing just that.

The best part about this change? It seems perfectly sustainable to me. Now, will he keep squaring up so much of his elevated contact? Probably not, if only because he’s third in baseball in air squared-up rate after never having approached those heights before. Indeed, “this guy won’t keep putting up numbers comparable to Shohei Ohtani” is a great bet to make about almost everyone.

That’s OK, though. Turang doesn’t need to keep hitting like this to be a great player. Really, he would be a borderline All-Star every year if he were just an average hitter because of his defense and baserunning, and he might be quite be a good hitter. Last year, his approach held him back; now it’s boosting him, and he appears to be on a bit of a hot streak as well, always a great combination. He’s been the best player on the best team this year, and the changes he’s made underneath the hood suggest that it’s no fluke.

I’m guessing Ashby. I think someone said Uribe was warming up yesterday so would assume not him. Would suck to lose Ashby especially with Hall out.

I know we have a position log but I kind of want to see Hoskins back and see if he can add some offense.
