I'd rather have Haase ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Rosenthal:
Not needed.
The Milwaukee Brewers, who acquired catcher Danny Jansen from the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday, are among the teams interested in the Baltimore Orioles’ Ryan O’Hearn.
While O’Hearn would not be a perfect fit for Milwaukee, the team could find at-bats for him at first base, in left field and at designated hitter.
Christian Yelich is the Brewers’ primary DH. Andrew Vaughn has filled in well at first for Rhys Hoskins, who is expected to return from a sprained left thumb in mid-to-late August. Switch hitter Isaac Collins, one of the season’s bigger surprises, has emerged as the team’s primary left fielder.
The Brewers, however, entered Monday ranked 21st in slugging percentage by left-handed hitters and 23rd in home runs. O’Hearn, 32, was batting only .218 with a .648 OPS since May 27. But among the Brewers, only Yelich (19) and Jackson Chourio had exceeded his total of 12 homers.
O”Hearn, a potential free agent, will be owed about $2.5 million. The Brewers also showed interest in another left-handed hitting first baseman, Josh Naylor, before the Arizona Diamondbacks sent him to the Seattle Mariners. Naylor, at the time, was owed nearly $4 million.
Not needed.

Do we have any other players like this? Could mean they’re more likely to be traded for a rental than others.

Out of curiosity why? Haase hasn't been very good this year
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Jansen hasn't been very good either. Better than Haase but listening to Murphy, Contreras playing time will not be decreased. So trading a prospect for someone who won't play much I don't like. Jansen at DH perhaps? I don't see that either.

It's definitely worth 2nd guessing the move if Jansen is going to play as sparingly as Haase did. That said I think Jansen is a pretty clear upgrade over Haase as a backup catcher

Haase wasn't hitting the ball like he was last season and his walk/on-base rate is still atrocious. Don't think it was anything more than that. Contreras is an iron man but I feel better about Jansen as injury insurance than I would have with Haase.

On Bluesky, Curt Hogg says the Brewers are mostly active in the 1B & reliever markets

I'd be down with O'Hearn in a platoon at 1B as a much better Jake Bauers. Another strong bullpen arm certainly couldn't hurt either.
Suarez would be obviously be ideal, but I'd also like Durbin to continue playing. I wish I felt better about either Durbin or Turang playing SS so we could bench Ortiz's bat, but his defense has also been really good.

In a scenario where we acquire O'Hearn or a similar type 1B, I wonder what the plan would be. Because I don't think you can afford to roster 3 1B at a time. Would they send Vaughn down? Trade Hoskins?

They can't take Vaughn out of the lineup at this point.

I'm sure it's a small sample thing or maybe the fact that he's in a better lineup, but I'm just hoping that they've unlocked something that has swung his K/BB ratio. Unlikely, though, since he didn't really show a difference there in his Nashville stint.

Random thought and put everything aside from a FA and how bad he's been this year perspective....but man how good would we be if Willy's last year was this year...

I wouldn't be against trading Hoskins, but perhaps they keep him around as a pinch-hitting power bat (they could certainly use it). Maybe he gets some DH at-bats or sticks around as insurance should Vaughn turn back into a pumpkin.

The problem is from a roster standpoint I don't think you can afford 2 backup 1B. That leaves a backup Catcher & one more guy on your bench and that's it. Maybe if you can hold off Hoskins returning until September they could make it work
