I love ya Tom but this answer is a fail.

Q: Peter, Minneapolis, Mn - How come there aren't any left handed catchers? So if you are left handed and you can throw hard, then you are automatically a pitcher or an outfielder?

A: Tom Haudricourt - There are way more right-handed batters than lefties and it's easier for a right-handed thrower to make throws to first base and second base. Just the way the game evolve.

When do catchers ever need to throw to first base? On a snap throw or when there's a bunt or something but when you think of it that's easier for a left hander because they don't have to spin or turn their body to throw to first.

The problem is when throwing to third a left handed has to stand up, turn their body towards third and then throw and nobody has a strong enough arm to prevent runners from stealing third every chance they get on a left hander.
