Perhaps its not ridiculous as Trwi said, but I definitely think you are reading too much into it.

This was actually my first reaction to what happened. I mean, it was clearly retaliation, and Yost mouthing to Pujols "Go talk to your manager" clearly shows that. Why does a coach to retaliate? To hurt the other guy? No, it's to show his own guys that he has their back, which incites higher level of loyalty, etc...

But I guess the paulpressey25 virus could be infecting me after all. :)

thats the whole point. ned yost is a moron. he did retaliate, he can say what he wants. you guys wanna talk about his history, well for the last few days his 'history' has been to get i the umps' faces every chance he gets, every perceived call that has gone against us in an important situation. well, i would say that having a guy and a manager tossed in that situation is worthy of argument IF it were unintentional. no argument, it was intenetional

I don't see it. Why would a manager of Ned Yost's caliber make such a terrible decision? Just baffling!

No need to parse words, speculate or analyze. Yost sucks as a manager.....we'll hopefully get a gift of a new manager come some slow Friday afternoon in November when no one is looking, right before a big Packer weekend and the Bucks home opener....I'll predict November 2nd...

I wanted to start this in its own thread, but last time I tried something like that it got locked, so I'll just toss it in here. I was bored, and did a google image search for "Yosted" - here are some highlights:

A personal favorite....

The rest were pretty lame, but I thought these were all very fitting...

three more games until the 'yost era' is over? 165? it just keeps rolling around in my brain: a tired-looking davey lopes rubbing his face contemplating his sh#t roster 5 years ago--flash forward to today, a well-rested lopes watching sportscenter brewers lowlights saying 'wtf did i do to be replaced by this guy?'

I'd like to give a big old **** you to Yost for still being completely incompetent when it comes to managing a pitching staff.

I'm thinking of getting the thong, mouse pad, BBQ Apron, hooded sweatshirt and green t-shirt.

I just honestly don't know how he could think it was a good idea to bring Gagne in four days in a row. With Yost as manager I can't recall a time where he would EVER bring in a closer in having pitched more than 3 days. Just pure incompetence.

Coco pitched 6 games in a row last year. But I still think it was a horrible decision.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

That's the thing that annoys me about Yost. It's a save situation so according to Ned you have to bring in your closer, it doesn't matter how much he's worked the past week he has to get the save.

That's just completely boxing yourself in and not giving yourself a possibly better option.

I see this thread is still around.
It's kinda fun to read the early replies all yelling at me.

It's hard to complain too much. We are playing fairly poorly and are still 11-7 (7-5 on the road). I think last year we would have been thrilled to go 4-5 on a road trip like this and would have expected 2-7 or 3-6.

Had Gagne saved the game we wouldn't be having this conversation, but still a terrible decision by Yost. Even worse that he allowed him to pitch after giving up the two homeruns.

Not really. This is what I posted before Gagne gave up his first homer.

I think it's pretty clear by now I would be a more competent manager than Yost. :)

Why did Yost let the pitcher hit when he knew he was not going to pitch the following inning? Yosted.

Oh believe me, twirly, I had a bad feeling myself. I didn't go through the game thread, but my initial thought was that Torres would be the closer today.

We have 14 pitchers and basically no bench.
