Would think it is weird if the brewers for a chance to match a final offer considering the Ross situation. Cubs probably were like you take this now cause it can't leak.

I think in this case the agent approaches the Brewers and says they've got an offer of $8 on the table and the Brewers can match. Obviously the Brewers elected not to and the Cubs go ahead finalizing the deal and canning Ross.

I would have thought Murphy would go to Chicago.

We’re back in the Wendy and Laurel era again. Hopefully Davey Lopes takes the interim job.

The funny thing is the payroll, especially if they deal Burnes, is right on cue for a Yelich/Cain off-season sort of pop. They may choose to do one reset year, though.

But whatever…people get pissed about some minor off-season financial move, team wins 90 games, baseball playoffs are dumb, everyone is mad again. It’s hell of a cycle.

If it's Weeks I'm officially a Royals fan.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

The votes will be rigged in this one, no way MLB wants CC to win this lol. Then again MLB would love the publicity.

Man you hate him that much huh? All this because he didn't want to play LF one year?

Troy Snitker would be interesting. Maybe some of his dad's managerial chops rubbed off on him.

I see Craig Counsell’s park was vandalized…as expected, lol. I mean not cool but not surprising either. Surprised they didn’t have 24-7 eyes on it for a few days, haha!

He rubbed MD wrong when refused to play LF at end if his career he said. Think its tied to that.

When it comes to who to hire, I really don't have an opinion. Of the candidates listed I don't really want Mattingly or Murphy but anyone else on that list feels fine. Baseball managers come out of nowhere all the time and succeed and it's extremely hard to tell whose good or not without managerial experience. There aren't any clear top of the line managers available so perfectly fine giving a guy with no experience a shot and seeing what happens.

Basically you need to be able to relate to the players, articulate some strategies to them, employ decisions handed down by the GM or POBO. A lot could succeed at it.

Yep. Now who that is I have absolutely no idea. A former player makes sense since they'd seemingly be able to relate to players but that doesn't mean each of them is good at that. I am fairly confident Arnold will hire someone he's confident in in employing the analytical data that the FO gives him so I'd expect us to still manage pitching staffs well, platoon bats to maximize their abilities, etc. But can the next guy do that while also maintaining a great clubhouse culture and get players to buy in to that stuff? Only time will tell

Has there been any player reaction? I have not seen anything.

Mattingly is probably the one I don’t prefer. No offense to him, but it is a retread hire and his tenure in Miami was pretty rough and he won’t have the resources like he had in LA. I’d rather go with Kapler if want someone with MLB experience.

Internal is fine. Murphy won’t create a ton of excitement, but think he is a good baseball mind and seems like the clubhouse loves him. His health a d age may work against him, but I wouldn’t hate the hire. I think he most likely follows CC.

Weeks or Villanueva are boom or bust picks. It could be great or a disaster.

I would talk to Mark DeRosa. I’m still high on him as a future manager, but guessing he would be picky if is going to leave TV. With us possibly rebuilding, he may not want to jump onboard.

Ross angle is funny, but likely pass. Maybe worth talking to though. He seems like a guy players would like. It seems like he flamed out a bit this year though when pressure was on.

Kotsay from Oakland worth a look?
