Quero enters BA's top 100 too.

100
Brewers C
Notes:
Tools: Hit: 55 | Power: 45 | Run: 40 | Field: 60 | Arm: 60.
Skinny: Quero is one of the best defensive catchers in the minors. He's an athletic mover behind the plate, blocks well and has a plus arm with a quick release to produce pop times that can register under 1.9 seconds to control the running game. He's hitting well as a 20-year-old in Double-A, too, with an aggressive approach and more power starting to emerge this season.

You can see every bit of Law's analysis in that video. High effort delivery, high grade slider, ugly swings. I'd love it if he could somehow remain a starter, but he definitely looks more like a potential closer.

14. Jacob Misiorowski, RHP, Brewers
Team: Low-A Carolina (Carolina)
Age: 21

Why He’s Here: 1-0, 0.00, 5 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 SO, 0 HR

The Scoop: Misiorowski is the owner of some of the best pure stuff in the minor leagues, and his outing last week was the best of his young career. Armed with a four-pitch mix headed by a fastball that sat in the upper 90s and peaked at 101, Misiorowski held Down East hitless over five innings. The only blemish on his card was a hit batter who just barely checked his swing on a breaking ball that got him in the foot. The start set career bests for innings pitched and strikeouts and brought his season total to 41 Ks in 22.2 innings. (JN)

It is absolutely infuriating how terrible MiLB.tv continues to be. I must have spent an hour late last night trying to watch games that never loaded. I'd be logged in, click on a watch button, and be sent to a page asking me to subscribe. When I would get to a video player nothing loaded.

Finally found a page that worked: https://www.mlb.com/tv/

Note the difference between that page and this one, which is what you get when you click on WATCH on milb.com: https://www.milb.com/live-stream-games

F*ckers.

ReasonablySober, you hear anything who the Brewers are scouting for MLB draft in July? It's always exciting when the draft is near.

The only name I've heard connected to the Brewers is Colt Emerson, a 17 year old HS shortstop. He fits what the Brewers have been looking for recently. Up the middle on defense, high hit-tool, and excellent plate discipline and zone coverage. Where he differs is he's a high school kid.

Other names that fit the profile are Tommy Troy (SS, Standford) and Matt Shaw (SS Maryland).

Law just released his top 100. For reference he has Emerson at #28 and thinks he's a 3B or 2B as a pro. He's got Matt Shaw at #7 and 2B. Troy at #12 and he can play 3B, SS, and maybe CF.

Some Friday or Saturday I'd like to make my way over to Appleton to see these kids play. Besides the new staff ace they've got some guys like Wood, Brown Jr., Mendez, and Moore that would be fun to check out.

Also, Misiorowski last pitched on the 31st. Wonder if he goes tonight.

Tyler Black has reached base in 27 straight games, a team record. Did so tonight with a deep triple.

Man, I can't wait for the draft. Keep me updated if you hear more on who we are scouting. I usually go and read the players bio on MLB draft prospect 2023.

A couple weeks later...

Risers
Jeferson Quero, C, Brewers (Moved from No. 98 to No. 66)

Any conversation about the best defensive catcher in the minors has to include Quero. He has a plus arm and a swift exchange to cut his pop times under 1.9 seconds on his best throws, with hands and blocking skills that are advanced for his age. The defensive component of Quero’s game isn’t new, but he has taken another step forward offensively and done it while young for his level as a 20-year-old in Double-A. Quero is showing more power this year, driving the ball in the air with more frequency and with more impact. The big red flag for Quero remains his plate discipline, as he’s still an aggressive hitter who will expand the zone too often, but the damage he’s doing upon contact is a good sign for a young catcher.

When he pitched in the Junior College World Series later in 2022, an in-stadium scoreboard flashed triple digits for everyone, including Misiorowski, to see. He also topped 100 mph with multiple pitches during MLB’s Draft Combine last June, further boosting his stock.

Misiorowski had a scholarship waiting at LSU had he opted to decline the Brewers’ offer and continue his college career.

“I think if he’s doing what he’s doing right now, you’re talking about a top-five pick in the country,” Brewers general manager Matt Arnold said last month. “I really believe that. He has all the ingredients to be a 1.1 [first overall pick] kind of guy, he really does.”

BA's Scouting report reminder:

Tools: Fastball: 70 | Curveball: 60 | Slider: 70 | Changeup: 45 | Control: 40
Skinny: When it comes to pure stuff, Misiorowksi stacks up among the best pitching prospects in baseball. He can run his lively fastball up to 101 mph with good movement and extension that helps that pitch play up, while his wipeout slider generates an abundance of empty, awkward swings. He’s a gangly 6-foot-7 pitcher with arms and legs flying everywhere in a delivery that he’s still learning to sync up, so his track record of strike-throwing isn’t great, but the upside is significant if he’s able to land his stuff in the zone with more frequency.
