Taylor was 3-3 with a double, 2 R and 2RBI last night for Nashville before he was taken out. Wondered if his getting taken out corresponded with Cain running into the wall.

Could see the Mets moneywhipping Stearns. Would really suck.

It feels like there have been a few times in recent years where he's been on their radar... hope it doesn't happen, but kind of figure it will eventually.

Avi earned enough ABs to convert his club option to a mutual option. He gonna be gone.

I'm guessing Attanasio won't be too torn up about it.

Yes, yes owners should pay more but we know that, adding some inflation, that in a standard "we're competitive" year for Mark usually will be $100-110 million. In an "all-in" year they may go up to $130.

Well, if Avi's decision had been up to the Brewers and would be hard for us to decline, throw his salary into the massive arbitration increases we're going to see from Burnes, Woody, Hader, etc. and we're well over $100m anyways.

Add in that Taylor is helpful, Yelich will be here forever, JBJ was a mistake but will be here as a good defensive depth piece at worst, one more year of Cain...the OF was already loaded anyways. Plus you have Mitchell probably factoring in at some point soon.

Devin Williams with a calf injury. They're trying to avoid an IL stint. Brutal.

I'm bored as we have a week and a half of waiting for the series against the Braves (or maybe Phillies?) so just looking ahead to next year and...in terms of transactions, Stearns could surprise, but...it's going to be one of the more boring offseasons in recent memory IMO.

We probably lose Avisail now, which probably gives Attanasio some slight relief due to the fact that the team has played so well that arbitrations rising + Yelich's big $ kicking in + an overlap in a lot of their bigger contracts for one more year equalled them pushing Mark's usual limit of salary before we even got into some offseason buy decisions.

I really see maybe a buy-low reliever or outfielder or righty 1B type for $5 million or that sort of thing but otherwise standing pat on the roster and losing Avi.

Burnes/Woodruff/Peralta/Lauer/Houser/Ashby and another Brett Anderson sort of signing = no need to worry about the starting staff.

Bullpen can use some help but Stearns is always creative there.

OF: Yelich/Cain/Taylor with JBJ and ____? Mitchell has faltered a bit in AA but maybe plays in later in the year.
3B: Urias for now
SS: Adames
2B: Wong
1B: Some sort of Rowdy/Vogelbach/RH bat
C: Final year of Narvaez and re-up Pina one more time.

Avi is gone for sure. Unfortunately JBJ will be back. Too much to pay for only defense. Cain will be in his last year. Yelich extension kicks in, he goes from $14M to $26M. Hader, Omar, Suter will be Arby 3. Peralta, Burnes, Houser, Vogelbach and Rowdy will be AB for the first time. Woodruff AB2, he'll get a nice bump.

$27 million for Cain/JBJ hurts but it's for one year.
