if Braun is out for 50 games
the team needs to go 25-25
and Braun cant miss any more games for the rest of the season

Just for fun, anybody have a guess as to who the other two were?

I'll guess hairston and lucroy..just for kicks of course.

Gritty. That's why he retired. He knew he'd be facing 50 games.

Brewers release a statement that Braun won't be at the On Deck event due to a 'sensitive' situation. Maybe they know the results of the appeal already.

So that would likely mean it's not good news.

Or because they know people like myself would be bringing my valtrex prescription bottle for him to autograph.

The way the article is worded gave me a different impression than when I read DBs post,
Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio announced Wednesday that outfielder Ryan Braun, who is facing a 50-game suspension for a positive drug test, will not take part in the team's fan event this weekend.

"In working through the logistics of this weekend's Brewers On Deck event in Milwaukee with Ryan Braun -- and knowing how much he enjoys interacting candidly with Brewers fans -- we came to the conclusion that this is too sensitive of a time in the confidential process for him to attend this year," Attanasio said in a statement.

Sounds like they just don't want him to take any chances with anything he says being twisted or used against him. That and i'm sure there could be some awkward moments when fans ask him things he can't answer, which wouldn't make for a fan friendly environment which is what i assume they're going for.

Good decision, everyone would keep asking him the same thing.

Shouldn't we have an answer on Brauns hearing by tomorrow? I thought the appeal panel had 2 weeks to make a decision and the appeal was on a Thurs + Fri 2 weeks ago. Anybody know more about this?

I thought I read somewhere the decision has to come within 25 days. Or maybe it was 28 days. But I definitely believe this could drag on for a few more weeks.

I know the original expectation was late January/Early February. Just want a definitive resolution one way or the other now.

If for some reason they let him off they will make no announcement since it was all suppose to be confidential. The announcement would have to come from Brauns people. If the suspension is upheld, MLB will make the announcement although Braun could also do it. He'll want his explanation out there either way.

I think you're right, it was like 25 days after the hearing which was Jan. 19. That would mean we should hear something by the 13th of Feb.

This morning it was reported that the deadline was Sunday, probably not released until a day or two later.

But as said earlier in this thread, if he wins the appeal MLB says nothing, the whole process was to be confidential. Braun's people will release the news, or they'll leak it to someone. If there IS a suspension MLB will announce it. And again it's possible Braun's people may announce it first and do their spinning. One way or another we'll know soon.
