Of note, Cam Robinson was DFA'd today because he can't stop walking people. He's got good stuff, though, so I doubt he remains with the org.

Track Record: The Brewers signed Severino out of the Dominican Republic for $1.25 million at 17 when his signing period opened on Jan. 15, 2022. He spent the 2022 season in the Dominican Summer League before making the jump to the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League in 2023.

Scouting Report: Severino stood out for his power as an amateur, with better results from the right side than the left. Midway through the DSL season in 2022, the Brewers had Severino drop switch hitting and hit exclusively righthanded, with his offensive performance improving after. It's a power-over-hit profile with a chance for above-average raw power given his bat speed and remaining strength projection. Severino mostly played shortstop with time at third base as well in the DSL, but he should see more time at third base long term. He's an average runner underway, though will likely slow down, and has a plus arm.

The Future: Severino is still a raw teenager in Rookie ball, but there's the potential for a power-hitting third baseman if everything clicks, with a chance for his performance to improve now that he's focused only on hitting from his best side of the plate.

Scouting Grades: Hitting: 30. Power: 55. Speed: 50. Fielding: 45. Arm: 60.

Four home runs in his first 26 ABs, yea, that ain't bad.

ReasonablySober, you hear anything who the Brewers are scouting for MLB draft in July? It's always exciting when the draft is near.

The only name I've heard connected to the Brewers is Colt Emerson, a 17 year old HS shortstop. He fits what the Brewers have been looking for recently. Up the middle on defense, high hit-tool, and excellent plate discipline and zone coverage. Where he differs is he's a high school kid.

Other names that fit the profile are Tommy Troy (SS, Standford) and Matt Shaw (SS Maryland).

Law just released his top 100. For reference he has Emerson at #28 and thinks he's a 3B or 2B as a pro. He's got Matt Shaw at #7 and 2B. Troy at #12 and he can play 3B, SS, and maybe CF.

There are too many good college bats in the first round this year and not enough landing spots for them in the top 15, so three or four are going to end up in the second half of the round and the teams that land them will be over the moon. I could see Troy, Gonzalez, or maybe even Shaw getting here.

He's 5'7" 155. I doubt any real power fills out unless he hits a mysterious growth spurt.
