Just make a decision already. Sit him or play him, at this point just make up your freakin' mind.

I know this won't happen but does anyone know what would happen if they still didn't make a decision before the season starts? Would Braun be allowed to play until they decide he's suspended?

braun arbitrator wont be inhibited by usual 25-day limit. so decision not necessarily expected by sunday.

This makes no sense. What's the point of having a time limit then?

Players get to play when they're appealing a disciplinary suspension, so I'd imagine this would be no different.

This has to be yet another sign pointing to abnormal circumstances. We have heard all the rumors about having 4x the levels of any other player on record ever, herpes medication, faulty testing, etc...

The only reason they would give them longer than normal time to analyze the facts is if it really was something unique.

That being said if it was really so unique that he was going to get off I don't know why they would need extra time. This entire situation is really bizarre.

Yeah something odd is going on that the limit would be extended. There are 3 on the panel, one from MLB, one from the union and one "independent" and he's the one that usually ends up making the decision assuming the other two split.

Am hoping for a lifetime ban, personally...

Anywho, I also think it's strange that they're disregarding their own rule, seemingly.

Not only do they get to play during other appeals, this one is suppose to be secret so I doubt they make a player sit a month without being able to say why he is sitting for a month.

From what I've read, the rule itself isn't that rigid. It basically states they have to TRY to return a decision within 25 days. If they don't and Braun objects, I suppose he'd have to prove they weren't trying hard enough. Def a weird rule, but I don't think they're necessarily disregarding it.

Yeah they try to more strictly stick to the 25 days when something like this happens during the season. But offseason it doesn't matter as much. As long as it's resolved by the start of ST.

If the suspension is upheld is Braun allowed to participate in ST?

Like I said, I don't even care if he's suspended at this rate. Just come to a decision so this team can figure out what the hell it's doing.

What's interesting is that Braun could've already won his appeal, but because the league is required to stay quiet, the MLB wouldn't say anything. Obviously, though, you'd think someone in Braun's camp would leak it.

They would release a statement in seconds if that were the case.

It would be hilarious if they just never said another word about it, he wins his appeal and then says nothing.

I know he would never do that but it would drive the media nuts.

Haha just to mess with the media for leaking it. I think Braun's side may keep quiet for as long as possible. Braun needs to sleep with as many women as possible before he makes an official announcement that he has herpes.

I don't understand this line of thinking. Any miniscule chance that he can be vindicated is better than finding out tomorrow that he is suspended 50 games. They could wait until next winter for all I care, as long as there's a possibility that he could be vindicated. Every extra day this drags on is a good sign in my book.
