You're being sarcastic, right?

Absolutely not, Santana has struck out like 150 times this season between the major and minors. They're both not great, you always take the lefty hitter against the RHP everything else being equal in that spot.

So, you are taking into consideration how god awful Thames has looked for 3 months. And, you're also taking into consideration Santana has been undeniably a decent hitter the past few weeks. And, you're taking into consideration outside of both of these players we had an even better option in Granderson?

If you want to play the small sample card, Thames is hitting .250/.429/.438 in September.

Well, I can 100% verify to you: Eric Thames didn't make any contact and actually struck out on ball four - a slider 1.5 ft off the inside of the plate.

Okay? The result was bad, that doesn't mean the decision was bad and didn't make sense.

If you really think Santana is better contact hitter than Thames I don't know what to say. This is just complaining about something for no reason at all.

So you're disagreeing with me even when I just agreed with you Counsell made a mistake? It's like an impulse sometimes.

Thames has a .221 BA. Last year it was .247. He projected to have 218 k's in a 600 AB season last year. This year it's 231 k's.

Santana has a .260 average in the majors and that's his BA this year. Last year he projected to have 203 k's in a 600 AB season. This year he's on pace for 219 k's.

And Santana is in much better form right now. Yes, he's a much better option in that situation. Funny that's a battle you'd choose.

The result was bad because it was a poor choice. Thames has been a **** player for 3 months. I'm not even a proponent of Santana here. Really, I'm not. The triple from Thames last night was a farce. We all know it. The point is: there is a better option. Granderson being the primary. It's the same in the pitching department. I'll say it again: Counsell has cost this team at least 5 games with poor decisionmaking. In an extremely tight race, that means a **** ton.

The claim that Santana is a better contact hitter than Thames is just straight up false, so no, I'm really not.

I'm going to be done with this argument now. Go Brewers, let's get out of this mess please with minimal damage!

So you're just going to ignore that Thames has a .429 OBP in September, which is higher than Santana's because Thames was bad the two months prior?

Answer this question. Against a right handed pitcher do you want the left handed hitter with a small sample .429 OBP who makes a little more contact and hits the ball in the air a lot more which would eliminate the double play (unless there was a line drive right at an infielder in which case it wouldn't have been a bad at bat and there would be no complaints) or do you want a .400 OBP right handed batter who makes less contact and when he does it's on the ground nearly 50% of the time drastically increasing the possibility of a double play?
