Bump
Another late season collapse with the best talent we will probably have for years to come. The Phillies schedule from here on out is a cake walk compared to ours. And even the lowly Astros will probably pass us at this rate even though on paper our team has much more talent. Combine that with chronically stupid management decisions and Yosts refusal to play Rivera for some reason and his under utilization of Kapler before he was injured and his over loyalty to players who chronically under perform means our season is pretty much over barring a minor miracle and Yost will be getting fired on Sept. 29th.

I also have to think our scouting guy Jack Z. or whatever his name is will eventually be snatched up for a GM job and our window of opportunity will quickly close unless they can find a suitable replacement. That guy might be the most valuable front office guy we have. If it comes to that, we better pay up or possibly consider firing Melvin and promoting him.

Another problem the Brewers will have is that everybody had Brewer fever for two years in a row only to see their team collapse which means ticket sales will inevitably go down next year even if we get off to a hot start. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I can't really blame the recent brewers collapse on Yost. i can blame it on melvin for not acquiring a veteran lefty bullpen guy before the trade dealine and hoping that Stettler could fill the void. I can also blame it on melvin for keeping guys like mota and gagne and not resigning cordero. gagne was a risk that just didn't work out. i can't believe gagne has pitched less than 40 innings.

I blame both melvin and Yost for the acquisition of Durham. First , if you're going to trade for him, then USE him. Don't let him just pine away on the bench. if you didn't plan on using him more, why trade for him in the first place? the money spent on Durham's salary probably prevented the brewers from going after a pitcher.

At the begining of the year , the brewers said they would place parra on an innings limit. well, he's past that limit and has nothing left. The brewers should have either pitched him less during the year to save him for September, or acquired an old veteran to replace him down the stretch.

for all practical purposes, this was our window year.

I can't blame Yost for fielder's year a the plate. I can blame his dietician and his batting coach. but when you have a like he did last year, you tend to not listen to batting coaches anyway.

I can't blame yost for the brewers lack of clutch hitting.

From Ken Rosenthal's column:

Yost appears tense to rival scouts and executives who have seen the Brewers play recently. So does his team, an offensive powerhouse that is averaging only 2.8 runs per game in September.

"There's a sense of panic, anxiety," one scout said. "The team picks up on it. He's a Nervous Nellie. A manager is supposed to calm you down, not rile you up."
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I do not know if the firing of Yost would do much anyway. They had a small window of opportunity by trading for CC. He is the only reason we are even close in the wild card race. With the way baseball economics are now the Brewers or any other small market can not compete. If you get rid of Yost you might as well get rid of Melvin too. Most of his trades and signings have been garbage. After 25 years of crap why do people support this team or any other small market team? I would love too see CC next year, but hell would freeze over before we see that.

MD, i was thinking the same thing. however, my thoughts were that the brewers would be better off if they had some seasoned veteran players who were the stars of the team rather than second and third year players, the y might halp ease the clubhouse more tha n a manager would. The braves had guys like maddux, glavine and Smoltz and their kangaroo court. the Yankees have always had veteran players. The red Sox wo their first world series bringing in an old guy named Schilling and manny and big poppy were starting to get old. The brewers brought in Craig Counsel and Ra y Durham. yes, they are veterans, but they are not star veterans this year that can carry a team on their back. CC is a pitcher who can carry a team on his back. but what the brewers need is a position player who can carry a team.
