Love when the pitcher throws 3 straight balls and gets 2 called strikes in the biggest spot of the game

The ump completely changed the entire at bat in an absolutely massive spot.

Annoyed with those strikes but the catcher did a good job framing them. That was a really impressive PA by Collins despite the result. His eye seems good and his bat is fast.

If the tracker on ESPN is accurate then this dude has been horrible behind the plate. Calling pitches off the plate, but not every time. Bad zone and inconsistent

If they were closer pitches sure but those were clear balls that have to be called as such in that situation. Ump was giving him a 90's Tom Glavine strike zone.

They were clearly balls, but I don't think they were as bad as they looked on tv. They showed one of them from above and it was only an inch or two outside, despite looking way outside in real time. I think the sidearm delivery messed up not just the ump but also the pitch tracker.

In any case, my main point was that I was really impressed with Collins.

Certainly seems like a lot less borderline pitches going the Brewers way vs some of the calls the Yankees are getting

Well I just got off work, so I don't doubt that I missed some bad ones. Just impressed with Collins for keeping his wits about him and making a competitive PA out of it despite being jobbed in his first opening day.

I know there's wind and sun to battle but Chourio's approach on that catch was horrendous. Should be behind the ball and momentum coming forward, especially with how much time he had. Camped and throwing flat with zero momentum. My division 3 college coach would be cringing at that attempt

One game but didn't do much to ease any of my concerns about the offense.
