He was the last pitcher to pitch when the Brewers took the lead.

first looooooooooooosing streak=12 page game thread.
On the Bucks board it usually goes the other way. If we suffer a bad loss the board goes nutz.

without gwynns hits and defense we would have lost this game. he had the game winning rbi.
And Gwynn doesn't get a chance for the game winning RBI in extra innings if it isn't for Sheets.

That's the spirit.
I take it you're not counting spring training games then.

So, I had to leave for class at the top of the 9th inning, but still got to listen to the game. The good and bad
The Good
-Ben Sheets: 6.1 IP, 2 Hs, 7 Ks. Just had some great stuff and shut down everyone not from Japan.
-Tony Gwynn Jr.: 2-3, game-winning RBI, game-ending sliding catch, and I think the most underrated part of today's game, his swipe of third base. It didn't lead to a run, but you like seeing that from the guys who can do it.
-Guillermo Mota: Man, he had some wicked stuff. K'd two Cubs.
-David Riske: Because he didn't blow a save.
-Craig Counsell: This guy gets made fun of a lot on this board, but when the Brewers absolutely need a hit, Counsell always has one.
The Bad
-Eric Gagne: Pretty self-explanatory. He just couldn't locate a damn thing and when he did it went bye-bye.
-Bill Hall: The first guy of the day able to drive the ball, but then bonehead gets picked off of 2nd in a momentum building inning in the 7th. 2 K's as well.
-Brewers Lineup through 8th Inning: Could they have been anymore impatient? Take a friggin' pitch.
For the Cubs side of things, it's hard to ignore Fukudome and what he did. This was not the same guy I saw in Spring Training, who looked completely lost at the plate. Also, Zambrano looked VERY sharp. And I know it's just Game 1, but the Cubs will ultimately need to move Marmol to the closer's role. He has some of the best stuff in the game and it needs to be utilized in a role where the Cubs can get the most impact from him.
All in all, helluva way to kick off the season, even though I nearly drove off the road in blind rage in the 9th Inning.
