2 years of a top SS would be a nice get for Greinke. He has a reasonable contract and fills a need so that the team can at least contend next year. Getting a good SP prospect as well would be sweet, though it sounds too good to be true.

Elvis Andrus ss
3 years/$14.4M (2012-14)

3 years/$14.4M (2012-14)
signed extension with Texas 2/7/12 (avoided arbitration, $3.6M-$2.65M)
$0.75M signing bonus
12:$2.375M, 13:$4.8M, 14:$6.475M

Interesting strategy by Melvin to change from "we're listening" to "we're trading him." Close to a deal? Or hoping to start bidding war?

Don't understand why the Rangers would trade Andrus for Greinke. Aren't they trying to win it this year? Profar is a great prospect but he's not ready is he? He probably won't be ready until the Ranger's window is almost closed I would think.

He is one of the few national writers who I value their opinion.

In regards to him being a Rangers fan, see Twirls response.

I'm not advocating this mind you as I think the trade is not in the best interest of either team. just playing devil's advocate.

Defensively he's easily ready. Offensively he's a step back from Andrus at this point I'd guess but that's a minor price to pay to add an ace.

I don't think the Rangers deal Andrus for Greinke. Maybe if the Brewers throw in a sweetener like Hart, but not for solely Greinke.

Kind of hoping for Teheran at this point.

Rangers don't have to trade Andrus. If that's what the Brewers insist for Greinke then I would assume Texas would, I would think, just go after a different pitcher like Johnson and to a much lesser extent, Garza.

I guess my question to you guys is why wouldn't the Brewers trade Ramirez unless they are "blown away" by an offer. Or was that not an accurate report that I read?

Man, if the Braves were dumb enough to offer up Delgado for just Dempster, I'd be asking the world for Greinke if I were the Brewers.

My best realistic trade is Greinke and Ramirez for Segura, Richards, Cowart, and Santana.

Gary is clueless about everything. I had to turn it off. Between Gary talking as much as he does and Sparky reaching a pitch I didn't know was possible for a male, it became unlistenable.

Wonder if the Brewers asked them to throw him out there to scout his ability at a RF, or if they're just doing that to up his value.

Why would the Rangers do this? It could only hurt his value and can't stand to improve it at all. If I'm the Rangers and I'm talking about a trade with any team, there's no way I let them dictate which position any of my players play. That's just ludicrous.

It is a bit odd, IMO, that Melvin just came out and said that he's trading Greinke. Usually most GMs are a bit more coy about that kind of thing.
