I would still likely prefer a Rangers deal. Walden? Who cares, he's a reliever.

There's a fine line between holding out for the best deal and overplaying your hand. A team like the Angels bowing out of the Greinke derby and going with Shields instead would be a disaster for Milwaukee.

I got the name wrong in saying Walden. I meant their third base prospect and former first rounder hitting well in high a ball.

I'd rather deal with Texas. Higher ceiling guys. I like Segura, but I like Olt (or, in a dream world, Profar) better. Texas also has better pitching prospects than LAA, easily.

Preferring Texas to me would hinge on what pitcher we get with Olt, assuming he's the centerpiece.

My guess is that its basically done centered around Olt. I am guessing we are trying to agree on what pitcher is the second piece, or maybe trying to expand the deal to get a SS prospect like Odor as the third piece.. Not sure if Kottaras or krod or loe appeal at all to them.

But I'm guessing its done centered around Olt but Doug obviously will get a stating pitcher too.

Considering that be might not even be going to Texas I don't think you can assume "it's basically done". But I agree that I would be partial to a package of Olt and another decent pitching prospect.

#Angels remain very much involved in Zack Greinke talks at this hour, sources say.

If I am dealing with Texas, I would be willing to add maldonado to the deal if that would bring back a top notch pitching prospect to go with Olt.

Maldonado doesnt have the value to make a real difference in a deal IMO.

I just don't view Maldonado as someone who has a ton of value. Certainly not enough to bring another top prospect.

Yeah, I'm not sure a guy that projects to a future starting/backup fringe "nice to have" catcher is going to push Texas over the top.

I would rather keep Maldonado because, like skones and twirliez said, he probably doesn't have all that much value and would be more valuable to us than others at this point in his career.

The one thing we could have in our favor with Texas is they have to be desperate to win it all after losing in the World Series in back to back years, especially last year where in consecutive innings they were one strike away from winning a title. Man, if i was a Rangers executive, player, or fan, that Game 6 last year would still be haunting me. Maybe the most kick in the balls loss in baseball history.

Good lord, White Sox fans on Twitter are relentless. It's pathetic to see what they think they can get Greinke for.

I like that EVERY article I've read about the White Sox being interested fails to mention a single player's name other than Greinke. Like, if there is an Angels article, Richards, Segura, etc. are named. For Texas Olt, Perez, and the likes are listed. I haven't seen a single sportswriter even mention a name in a White Sox article. They're just interested.
