I hope you're right! I really don't know anything about him. Who's Kevin Goldstein?

Goldstein's ESPN/Baseball America writer.

This reminds me of a trade a few years ago, with similar circumstances. Where a blogger posted a trade, and it was un-true. Cant remember who was involved though. I know it involved the brewers.

Keep in mind this is the same GM (Melvin) that had a deal in place for Halladay last year. Only reason he didn't come here was because he wanted a team who's Spring Training was in Florida. Melvin makes the big trades when he can to improve the club. I have no reason to believe this is false. Breen wouldn't just throw this out there and **** on all the Brewers fans.

This needs to be true. I couldn't take it being a lie.

I remember that. A blogger named Mickey Davis came on here and reported that we traded Tony Gwynn Jr. and Matt Wise for Adam Dunn. Turned out that he was full of it, though. :D

Are you thinking of the Matt Wise for Adam Dunn trade? The difference is that was made up by a random blogger where the guys reporting this are legitimate journalists.

To me it sounds like this thing is close to being signed off on by both teams and breen has inside sources relaying as much. Maybe attanasio is sleeping and they are trying to get approval or something. Or maybe it's just bs, haha.

Certainly, but that wouldn't explain why no one else has this - Rosenthal, Heyman, ESPN, etc.

I'm not saying that the guy is definitely full of it. But I'd just like to see some more, ahem, well known folks report it before I believe it.

It would be funny if Doug was trying to call and wake up Mark now to get approval. "Hey, Mark...yeah. I was wondering if you could app-- oh, you're sleeping? Sorry, didn't mean to wake you, but we're trying to finish this deal for Z--- oh. Okay, but the thing is we already kinda leaked-- *click* "

What does that mean?

That Davis isn't a part of any deal?

Means that Davis isn't in the trade and that maybe he wasn't in the top 11 but now is because of this trade.

A poster on another message board put it pefectly...

This trade is great news. I hate losing Odorizzi, but it's not as if he was surrounded by enough talent in our system that he marked the beginning of a dominant wave of Brewers' prospects. By the time Odorizzi was up, we were likely to be at least a few other pieces short and having this same debate over trading away some of the following wave of prospects. Opportunities to put a true World Series contender on the field don't come often. I like going for it.

No, No. I remember that, this was an actual blog. It was some **** ass sports blog that no one had ever heard of. And everyone was going crazy.

And, who the f*** said we were ever close to getting Roy Holliday? I never heard that. :o

This come off the heels of this:

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Zack ... ent-121710

Zack Greinke wants to be traded, and the Kansas City Royals intend to grant his wish.

Greinke fired his agent on Friday, the clearest indication yet of the ace right-hander’s desire to be sent to another club.

After Greinke switched representation from SFX Baseball to CAA, a high-ranking executive from another team told FOXSports.com, “He really wants out of K.C.” Separate major-league sources confirmed that Greinke has unequivocally asked the Royals to be traded.

Royals general manager Dayton Moore declined comment. But sources say the Royals, believing Greinke will pitch better in 2011 if he joins a team with a stronger chance to win right away, have discussed trade possibilities with numerous suitors.

Frustrated with losing, Greinke, 27, became disengaged from his team at times this year. One season after winning the American League Cy Young Award, his ERA increased from a league-best 2.16 to 4.17.
