The Brewers do a much better job than the Bucks of engaging the fans and staying connected to the past.

I mean, before Giannis, did we really want to be reminded of the past 20-30 years?

Not like we want to invite Joe Alexander or Yi Jinlian back to Fiserv any time soon………

Come on. The Brewers have never won a title. There have been plenty of good Bucks players over the years. Many that the fans embraced.

I’m a bandwagon fan who went to the game today. There really is a Brewers fan culture and I can’t quite explain it because I’m on the Bucks side of the ledger.

For whatever reason millennials have adopted the Am Fam field culture the past decade. Couples abound, young kids sometimes, literally all of them wearing a couple pieces of Brewers gear. It’s like their version of church.

The loyalty of those fans is insane. Mark A. needs to reward them by spending some cash and going out and adding a big bat to that lineup. They deserve it.

Former Brewer Adrian Houser beat the Cubs tonight. Hopefully former Brewer Aaron Civale does it tomorrow night.

And he won't, and it's complete bulls***. Especially considering the team is probably worth 10X more now than what he bought it for and the taxpayers of the state are on the hook to the tune of half a billion dollars to update his stadium that he didn't pay for.

Are we still doing the whole Mark A is cheap thing? The Brewers are extremely well run and Mark A deserves a lot of credit for hiring those guys and letting them do their thing. Could he spend a few extra bucks on the big league team? Maybe. But let's not forget he's invested heavily into the minor league facilities(new stadium in Low A & a brand new facility in the Dominican Republic), the pitching lab, a revamped spring training facility, every year the Brewers spend up to their last dollar in the draft, etc. He spends where there is the biggest bang for his buck which ironically is not always an extra couple million for a free agent. And fwiw he's always been willing to add $ at the deadline too. Last year he traded for Frankie Montas who was on a $16 million contract, in 2023 he added Canha who was making $13.5 million that year. If there is a guy that Matt Arnold determines will help this team I'm sure Mark A won't stand in the way for a few million. The bigger question you should ask is how willing will Matt Arnold be to deal top prospects, because he rarely does so

What's this? Brewers facing Junk today? Shades of Stu Miller.

https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/stu-miller/

I kind of miss the old junkballers. I remember exactly where I was when Aaron homered against Curt Simmons and was called out for striding up out of the batter's box -- still right up there with the Brett pine tar thing as the BSiest of BS calls ever made. But the days when a hitter might stride up to hit junk are long gone, because the junk is gone, too, and with rare exceptions pitchers have lost the ability to change speeds as effectively as they used to.

Not concerned about whether or not we Could and Would add a not-cheap rental. It's like a third of a season - not worried that we won't shell out the few million left if the team thinks it makes sense to do so.

The Should is where I get caught up. The only guy meeting this criteria really is Suarez, and it's not just straight-up adding salary. You have to give up prospects. I'm just not at all convinced it's worth it.

Now, Otto Lopez with multiple years of control? I'm interested.

He was the youngest participant, still at an age where a lot of people are still playing and performing well. He was the favorite.

This is why I can relate to Indiana Pacer fans. We’re literally the same team save for lack of a WS appearance. Smart drafting and trades and always staying relevant but never able to truly contend.

I’d be curious to see the team books. Readily acknowledge we don’t have the revenues the other clubs do. But always wondering about cash flow. One of the challenges we had with Bud was he’d always use team profits to buy out other owners and increase his equity in the team. Wondering if Mark A. still has loans on the team he needs cash to debt service.

Good question. Mark is the principal owner but I have no idea how much he actually owns. He has said the partners expect to make a profit every year. I don't know if that's happened but that's been the goal. Many owners don't mind being in the red to a point since they know they'll cash in big time when they sell (as will Mark).

Theres 0 guarantee that spending more loot would push this team over the edge for the last decade.

Of course not. You can't prove or disprove something that didn't happen. That's a moot point.
