Making a good move only to balance it out with a **** move is something I'm against. Weird, I know.

If this free agency class does come at a bargain (undetermined because maybe there is a massive bidding war coming up this week among all of these guys), it wouldn't be the worst thing to get some shorter contracts while still filling out the farm system even more.

I think even if we emptied out trading Shaw/Knebel/Santana for prospects that we'd be able to tank well enough well enough for a substantially good pick.

I saw somewhere on twitter that the savings from the salary is going directly to Maryvale.

As a fan, that sucks if I'm understanding it correctly.

Several unsubstantiated rumors as of late involving the Crew:

Interest in Josh Harrison?

A potential trade of Shaw and a signing of Moustakas?

(All being peripherally discussed on Brewer Fan)

** Great news for Jimmy Nelson! I sure hope he can regain his health and build off of his break-out season.

I know it wouldn't require significant prospects to get Harrison but I'd rather just resign Neil Walker and not give up anyone.

YEah, I could offer Brinson/Ortiz/Burnes/Dubon - But you always start low

What other trades? In the case of Cole, he's only got 2 years of control and is somewhat damaged goods right now...and the package the Pirates got for him was basically 4 uninspiring major league players that were once minor league highly regarded players. This grouping is a bunch of guys that were highly regarded at draft time/single A ball and all except for Supak (and to an extent, Diaz) are struggling to get past AA.

Fair enough, though. I'm OK if it involves Brinson because I'm a little bit low on his potential, but otherwise I'd like to keep the depth in tact.

Why would the Brewers take a huge bite out of their system to trade for a guy who plays the deepest position in the organization. Someone like Cain I get. Sign him for cash, deal from a position of strength, bolster the system where you're weak. Yelich makes zero sense. It's the opposite of what the Brewers should be looking to do.

If the Brewers aren't sold on Brinson but the Marlins are a bit more sold is the only reason I can see. Brinson + something else for an upgrade (with 5 years of relatively cheap control) I guess makes some sense.

I agree, though. I've not been interested in Yelich for the most part. I do have some reservations about Brinson where if we could trade him off for Yelich, I'd be in for. The depth can be used to take over for Braun slowly.

I'd rather have a $1 than two 50 cent pieces

I'd rather have four potential $1 pieces than one $1.
