Re: 2022 Brewers Minors/Prospects thread
We dont even have the $ to pay our current upcoming last arb level players. Adding a Cole, Gausman, Goldschmidt, or anything like that doesn't make sense.

So basically you think Chourio is the 2nd most valuable player in all of baseball?
No, not exactly. I am factoring in what makes the most sense with everything considered. It doesnt make a ton of sense to trade for any vet or long term $. We arent getting Adley or EDLC or anything like that. It just doesnt make any sense to get anything other than young controllable pitching.
That's why I was asking who was the worst player you'd trade him for? If you want young controllable pitching would you trade him for Joe Ryan or George Kirby?
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

I think it's worth noting that everyone that top 50 had played in the majors, was young, and under control. It's just so hard to put someone who has zero ML time above guys who have had ML success, are young, and have team control left
I think the counter to that argument is the fact that there are four rookies in the top ten, and all of them were highly regarded prospects a year ago. Yes, they've come up and performed well in the majors for a couple months. But if they have the highest value in the game this early on in their careers, it stands to reason that someone knocking on the door of the majors like Chourio should be on that list, and probably pretty high.

Baseball Trade Values currently has Chourio as the 27th most valuable player in Baseball so they somewhat agree with you. They have him as the top overall minor leaguer. Worth noting they also have Freddy Peralta at #46 overall

Quero's been gaining a lot of steam. If he pans out the Brewers are flipping loaded at catcher, which is a great problem to have.

Re: 2022 Brewers Minors/Prospects thread
Law still thinks Misiorowski is a reliever. Because I made the Strider comparison for Misiorowski, I looked up what Law thought of him before last season.
He had him 12th in the Braves system:
Strider is now the most valuable pitcher in baseball, still only has two pitches.
He had him 12th in the Braves system:
12. Spencer Strider, RHP
Age: 23 | 6-0 | 195 pounds
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Drafted: No. 126 in 2020
Strider was Atlanta’s fourth-rounder in 2020 and reached the majors just 15 months later, appearing twice as a reliever for the eventual World Champions. The 6-foot right-hander works mostly with a huge fastball, typically 97-98, with a solid-average slider that could end up plus. He punched out more than a third of batters he faced as a starter in Double A, where he spent the majority of the season. He doesn’t have much of a third pitch to get lefties out, and the fastball-centric approach probably won’t allow him to turn a major-league order over three times, or maybe even twice … but it might be a grade-70 fastball when you consider velocity, spin and movement. He’ll still need a better changeup, or maybe a splitter, which I think would work with his arm slot and hand position. If he gets that, he’s a league-average starter, with a small chance for more.
Strider is now the most valuable pitcher in baseball, still only has two pitches.

Good to see some bats for the brewers... if they keep developing pitchers the way they do, and the bats come along, this team will be fun.

Now let's sign Bishop Letson if we haven't already.

Re: 2022 Brewers Minors/Prospects thread
Not quite as much ceiling in this group compared to Fielder/Braun/Weeks grouping, but this is as deep as our system has been for bats as far back as I can recall, and we do still have a legit superstar ceiling guy in Chourio (hell, throw Quero in there too). Many think Pratt is comparable to Gunnar Henderson. Going to be fun to follow.

They had just over $3 million to work with from what I could gather from their signings and bonus pool allocation. And yup, there it goes.
Masterful draft.

Meanwhile, 12th rounder Luke Adams from last year is doing well in Carolina this year. He fits the mold of the guys they took this year. Big, athletic, power first 3rd baseman.
.848 OPS with nine homers as a 19 year old.

I don't think they have the money for Letson anymore, but hey, they've pulled off a couple miracles so far.
