I’ll take Darvish all day long... 4/80 and call it a day.

Darvish would be interesting. Doubt it happens.

He’s 31. Going to cost a lot. I don’t think our window is in the next 2-3 years. And after watching him in the playoffs, no thanks.

Even if we don't contend in 3 years. Darvish puts fans in the stands, we have the salary to pay him. If he does well, could just trade him to a contender. #Minor league player bait.

Lame that Crasnick drops a 'close to trade' tweet and makes us sit on it for hours

2-0 in two starts, 11 and 1/3, two runs (both solo shots) and 14 Ks before the World series. In the World Series he was tipping pitches and thus got **** rocked.

I was soooo happy when he got lit up on the biggest stage, drove his price down enough to make sense for us.

Our window is opening right now, and while it's not going to close soon, a move like this will help to open it even further.

This ^^^

I don't see him breaking down with his mechanics, 4/5 more years from him should be fine. He's one of the best SP in all of baseball, and the best SP in FA by quite a bit imo

Darvish scares me a little. Pitchers can be mental and will be interesting to see how he bounces back.

Those trade rumors interesting. I haven't heard much more.

I’m all for overpaying Darvish assuming there are some other good moves coming. Win now, keep prospects and win later. Payroll is fine right now.

It's cool that we are making an offer but I don't think it means that he's actually likely to sign here. Maybe I'm wrong and we're really going to open up the checkbook but that hasn't been our MO so far under Stearns.

Soooo Brewers have made an offer to Darvish and may potentially be on the heels of a fairly significant trade. :o

Wonder if we give Darvish a 4/80 deal and front load it like crazy if he takes a 4 year deal. Something like 25/25/15/15 would be awesome. Even a 5 year deal front loaded isnt as bad.

I think the only way the Brewers have a legit shot at Darvish is if they either go nuts and offer him something insane on a per-year basis like $30 million or they offer six years.

Yeah, and I'm with others earlier on the thread that probably agree it won't happen, but I I'd be in favor of a high $ amount for shorter years.

I've been thinking about a 3 year, $80M offer with an opt-out after 2. I could see Darvish accepting that and then re-entering the market at 33 for one final long-term deal.

The guy on BF.net is saying now that the trade might not go down until later on this week. Don't know how reliable he is but apparently he got tipped on the Lucroy to Cleveland trade that ended up getting vetoed so it might be legit.

He said it doesn't involve Braun and that it's with an AL team. I can't remember a time in the social media era where it was announced that a trade was going to happen, but the report knew nothing about the team or players involved.
