They've got a punching bag in one of the bathrooms... hopefully that keeps him away from the drywall.

That one was really a roller coaster because most people actually really liked that deal when it happened, then hated it after year 1 now are back to liking it.

Speaking of that what the hell happened to Grisham? His numbers are putrid this season.

Not sure what the heck happened to Grisham's hitting this year. He had good production the last two years including the Gold Glove in 2020. Padres turned Zach Davies into Yu Darvish with the Cubs deal. Seems like the original trade needs another 5 years to see if there is a winner lol.

Yeah not worth the 15Mil or whatever hes owed next season. If youre a team with a bloated payroll thats fine, but the dude is just okay in the postseason and hes never gonna go all Mariano in the playoffs and give you 3 innings. As for the other stuff, the I was just a young kid excuse is always the weakest you can go with when you get caught out being a racist.

I feel the conflict inside over this one. Baseball-wise and non baseball-wise.

Wanted to trade Hader for a few years now. Should have done it then, could have got a better haul. What did keeping him get us? Nothing.

Hell of a way to report that deal, only mentioning Antoine Kelly after the fact as if he's a throw in and not the point of the trade for the Rangers.

I really hate Bush for Kelly. Terrible trade.

So we trade Hader for rental in Rogers, one more year of Lamet, and two prospects? They should've gotten more for Hader.

Kelly is rule 5 eligible this winter. He's never thrown above A+, seems likely they wouldn't have protected him and believed a team would have grabbed him for nothing.

Bush has an injury history but his stuff. I know he's 36 but he's controllable for 2 more years after this if they want to keep him around. Probably cost effective option as well. Worth a flier his month of July 10 IP no ER. Not the sexiest of moves but when you factor the rule 5 possibility it helps ease the value.

I don't think the Rule 5 was much of a factor at all. There's plenty of fat you could trim from the 40 man to create space.

It does seem weird that Stearns would trade a young prospect for a 36-year-old reliever with extensive injury and criminal histories. At the same time, I think the idea of Antoine Kelly is better than the reality.

I really like the Bush trade(past issues aside). He's a really good reliever who is controllable for a few seasons. Kelly has a high upside but basically would needed to have been stashed on our 40 man for 2 years and basically has reliever upside.

The Hader trade is fine from a value perspective imo but it makes the team worse this season which is why I don't like it. I feel like similar prospects could have been available in the offseason and we could have kept him for the playoff push
