Gomez was co-NL player of the week last week along with Drew Stubbs.

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120730&content_id=35819846&vkey=pr_mlb&c_id=mlb

In seven games last week, Gomez hit .346 (9-for-26) and led the Majors with 10 runs scored while ranking tied for first among National Leaguers with 10 RBI and three stolen bases. The Santiago, Dominican Republic native was second in the league with four home runs and 23 total bases last week while his .885 slugging percentage ranked fourth. Gomez collected hits in six of seven outings and logged three multi-hit efforts. On July 23rd, the 26-year-old notched season-highs with three RBI and three runs scored in going 2-for-2 with a home run in four plate appearances. Gomez connected for his eighth home run of the season on Thursday, a two-run shot off Washington reliever Henry Rodriguez, providing Milwaukee’s lone offense in an 8-2 loss at Miller Park. In Sunday’s series finale with the Nats, Gomez clubbed his career-high ninth homer of the season, an eighth-inning blast to give the Brew Crew a 9-7 lead in an eventual 11-10 extra-innings loss. This is his first career weekly award.

Melky out for the rest of the season for positive PED (testosterone) test. He'll be a FA in the offseason.

50 games...so would he have a chance to come back somewhere in the playoffs? I'm thinking no since he'll be off their September 1 roster?

He'd be eligible by the 6th game of the playoffs but wouldn't be in game shape and the Giants would have to leave a roster spot open. Can't see it.

When I saw Cabrera I was thinking Miguel first. SF will miss Melky.

Gonna be more than he should get. His BABIP is 5th in the majors.

Melky was having a stellar season but still should not have been that high in MVP consideration. Nobody is running away with it but I'd take Cutch or Wright.

Tallion/Cole on their way.

I'm sure I'm missing some other prospects.

Damn.

They also recently got Travis Snider, who was a highly regarded prospect as well. He's also playing well so far this year.

Yeah I like Snider. I think I wrote that the day before (or of) that they got Snider.

I didn't understand that trade for the Jays. I realize Lincoln was a top pick one day long ago and was pitching well out of the bullpen but I wouldn't make that trade no matter how thin I was at reliever (and I realize he may switch back into a starting role someday) and how deep I was in the OF.

IMO Snider had way more value. He was on fire his first 2 callup seasons and then fell off a cliff. That said, I have much more confidence that he'll become a good player than I do in Lincoln.

I agree with everything you said.

This had me cracking up even before the third-baseman joined the party. I wish it had been thrown right into the 3rd-baseman's glove as he was jumping out of the way. That's what I thought was gonna happen and it would have made it arguably the greatest blooper clip of all-time.

Must have let up at the end because he didn't want a running into the kicker penalty.

The 3rd baseman that comes in at the end looks like he is trying to block the throw.
