MLB Offseason Signings & Trades

Post#1 » by Captain Erv » Fri Nov 11, 2011 7:58 pm

I thought I'd get the ball rolling on a general MLB wheeling and dealing thread.

Phillies closing in on signing Papelbon to a 4-year deal worth $50 mil.

Jamey Caroll signs a multi-year deal to become the Twins starting SS at the age of 38.

Caroll has good numbers, but the age is an issue.

Yeah, I would have had interest for him in a utility role, but not as an everyday guy.

Per Jon Heyman, Marlins have made offers to Reyes, Pujols and Buerhle, but deals aren't close.

Like a kid in a candy store.

Marlins generating some buzz, can't blame them. They'll end up spending some money but I can't see Pujols going there. I'd love it though.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Family in South Florida, good relationship with Ozzie.

Certainly don't think it's a long shot.

Not a Signing or trade but a new Manager so I think it fits here?

Matheny is one tough SOB. I'll never forget when he was batting as a Brewer and took a pitch to the face. Never flinched, never even touched his face, just stood there spitting blood and went to first. Amazing.

That is exactly what I think of too, when I think about Matheny.

Kemp about to sign with Dodgers for 8 years/160 mil. Mario Lemieux and company might be interested in buying the team from Mccourt too. Both are pretty exciting for Dodger fans.

Dodgers franchise is worth a ton strictly because of the land that they have around the stadium.

Not quite "strictly." The fact it's LA and it's the Dodgers are pretty big reasons why, too.

I don't know why I said strictly, to be honest.
