TEAMS: Brewers (14-5) vs. San Diego Padres (9-10)

WHEN: 7:10 p.m. Monday

WHERE: Miller Park

BROADCASTS: TV — FS Wisconsin Radio — AM-620

PROBABLE PITCHERS: Milwaukee RHP Wily Peralta (2-0, 1.96) vs. San Diego RHP Andrew Cashner (2-1, 1.27).

Padres pitchers have been pretty damn good for the most part, especially Cashner. Both of his FBs have been phenomenal this season. Unfortunately for them, they are not doing so well offensively. .124 ISO as a team and a 3rd worst wOBA of .285. Brewers are .163 and .323, respectively.

Let's see who plays and who is suspended. Wooten is sent down and Pasta Opera is back.

Another game, another PED user.

can we win some games without Gomez ?
and without Gomez batting leadoff ?
are we adding any players when Gomez and Maldonado get suspended ?
maybe this is a good time to start Weeks, and use him as the leadoff man ?

weeks, segura, braun
aramis, lucroy, davis
reynolds, herrera, pitcher

I AM EXCITE

Not excited to watch this offense attempt to hit Cashner, he's got some electric stuff.

Gennett hitting 2nd, Segura hitting 7th, and Maldonado catching. Probably getting him in there before he gets suspended tomorrow.

Maybe, but it might be that Luc did a 14 inning day game after a night game so i wouldn't read that much into it.

As for Jean getting dropped, it makes sense, he really only had that one game Saturday where hes done anything of note at the plate lately.
But replacing nothing with nothing leaves you with nothing. So our 2 spot still sucks.

I'd be less critical of Segura if it didn't seem like he's been picked off/thrown out on the bases like 450 times already this season.

I know what you mean, but its so hard to remember those incidents clearly because we've made at least 450 other baserunning mistakes this year. (Not excusing Segura, just frustrated with the whole team, and also Sedar)

Figaro call up makes a lot of sense. Bullpen is worn out and everyone pitched yesterday (except Wang). Kintzler is eligible to return Thursday (which is an offday), so assuming all goes well with returning from injury Figaro probably is only here 3 days.
And Figaro hasn't pitched since Thursday.

I don't understand why people keep on saying this. Scooter is hitting .300 right now.

By the end of the season he might drop down to .250 or .260, but until then it'd be nice if people stopped talking s*** about him. He is doing great

On-base percentage is more important, and his sucks. He's also hit all singles. He's playing "really well" and has a .700 OPS. For reference, Rickie Weeks wasn't even close to that bad in his entire career until 2012 when he went with a .720 season line. Weeks in his prime was normally over .800 and in his downfall and learning years he'd normally manage .750.

The batting average is bound to drop given they pitch right at him and he can't take walks. He needs to display that random onset of power we saw last year. Even just a little bit.

Now, if you're asking me if I'd rather have an empty batting average like Gennett's or a washed-up power hitter like Weeks who has to hope to either walk or fall into a HR, I'd take the empty batting average guy. "Bat skills" for getting contact is nice to have and may be the differentiating factor between a perennial All Star like Chase Utley and a 1-time All Star like Weeks (in his prime). That's where I find it important, but I wouldn't judge somebody like Scooter by his average if he provides nothing else.

EDIT: Didn't see the update that Scooter is up to a .340 OBP. I can handle that if he gets a few more doubles/homers and his arm improves. I'll bet that he finishes the season at .270/.320 with a low SLG like .380 or .390.

He has the arm of a 12 year old girl, hes relatively slow for a guy his size, and he can't play vs LHP. I understand he gets some hits against righties, but not enough to not piss me off about all the other ****.

Every at-bat should be a bunt. No swinging until two strikes.
