Desperately hoping Jeff Hoffman falls to us and we take him.

Re: 2014 MLB Draft Thread
Obviously they should take the best prospect regardless but it would be nice if a good position player was there in the 1st round. Seems like the Brewers farm system is pretty light on blue chip position guys.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

We're light on blue chip anything.

Yea, Seid has been given a pretty long leash for mediocre at best results and i'm probably being kind.
Did he draft Peralta?

Re: 2014 MLB Draft Thread
Peralta was an international signing. Less than $100K iirc.
I think the only guys he's drafted that have made it to the majors are Davis, Gennett and Schafer.

How the **** could they pick ________________!? Everyone knows _______________, __________________, and ________________ are FAR better prospects. Honestly we could get a few guys from RealGM together, buy a few cases of Spotted Cow, and draft significantly better than the Brewers do.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.

My guess is they go with Tyler Beede and I wouldn't be very happy with that.

Re: 2014 MLB Draft Thread
I know this doesn't belong in a draft thread, but I find it odd we jettisoned a 26 year old power hitting 1st base/3rd base prospect for Lyle Overbay. I still just feel like this was essentially a wasted free draft pick. Francisco hit another homer today and is now batting .270 w/ a .358 OBP and 10 HR 26 RBI. And, he's only just getting regular PT. Most of which is at 3rd base. I know Melvin had his reasons, BUT considering the dearth of options in the minors I feel this was a grave mistake. What do y'all think about this?

They got rid of him because he was a trainwreck defensively a firstbase. Worst i've ever seen playing first.

Have been thinking the same. With two picks before us, however, I'm guessing he goes to Toronto.

Agreed. I also would like Touki. Touching 97 with an awesome curve at 17 years old.

Doing some reading up on the prospects. Assuming Hoffman fell to us, we wouldn't see him until next year because of TJ right?

Depending how long it takes, he could be pitching again in May. Either way, he was a top 3 pick before the injury and it's not often a player that high could potentially drop to 12.
Love the Rodon pick for the White Sox. The one that got away from the Brewers.
