In hindsight Braun messed up by tagging, but if his front leg wasn't down he would've been safe as well.

Textbook example of why you have to consider the expected risk and payoff of every base running decision. A runner on 3rd with one out is going to score pretty often. Sometimes he won't, but you have to play the odds rather than risk a ridiculous out on the basepaths. You're often costing yourself one run, and sometimes more. It's a foolish gamble.
