Sources are telling me the Brewers are on college pitchers. :reporter:

Didn't feel that inspired from what I saw of him. Good upside though. Better than a conservative college pitcher.

At least its an upside guy. Wonder if he is a slot or under slot guy.

I have massive faith in Callis but they have been wrong quite a bit about the Brewers.

Brewers have gone high upside picks last year and now to start off this year. Could be really good or really bad.

With Aiken going #17 I'm legitimately pissed.

Better than drafting the Jungmann, Bradleys, Arnetts, and Matt Millers of the world.

Not watching the Brewers but I bet Brian is creaming his pants that the Brewers took a player from Texas.

But if he had gone 15 picks later you wouldn't be pissed? Not sure I follow that train of logic.

No. Here's what I said:

Brady Aiken, unless he falls into the 3rd.

I think the 1st and into the 2nd is where it's too high to take a guy you're concerned won't return to the player he was before the injury. But if some team checked him out and felt good enough to take him in the 1st, to me that says they think he's worth the risk.

The guy has got #1 staff ace type of stuff. I would have gone with him.

I just don't get being upset about it based on another team taking him after we picked. The Brewers have to make their own assessment and go from there. The fact that the Indians were willing to take the risk doesn't automatically make me regret not picking him.

I feel the same way. Either Cleveland made a massive mistake or are massive geniuses

In the end, the MLB draft is a crapshoot relative to other sports' draft. I'm not gonna lose sleep over them not taking Aiken and you're right, maybe the Brewers thought his arm injury was too much to warrant consideration. But I do think his selection by Cleveland lends support to the idea that he should have gone higher in a weak draft.

ya aiken has big upside but brewers probably could risk that pick they need to keep stacking their farm system...the fact they took a high school bat instead of safe college pitcher tells me there ready for a rebuild and not a quick fix..ray montgomery era begins..hes probably right on slot value to maybe a little over..some mocks ive seen had him going #4 to texas
