Gomez NOT traded to Mets for Wheeler, Flores

Post#1 » by Kerb Hohl » Thu Jul 30, 2015 1:09 am

I know that we are discussing this in the thread, but let's make a topic so we can bring this back and rip on posters.

Only downside is that it seems Mark/Doug were looking for slightly more advanced players in Wheeler (I know he can't pitch for awhile) and Flores. I'm not going to complain, though.

EDIT: Nope.

Gomez isn't at peak value but I'm very underwhelmed by the return. A shortstop with a .282 OBP and a pitcher coming off Tommy John surgery?

Flores hit pretty well in the minors. I do think he's going to be a .320 OBP guy with 15-20 HR and I wish that would play at SS and not 3B, but he's a decent piece to add.

If Wheeler reaches his potential, it's an easy win.

I'm glad they didn't hang on to Gomez, but this feels like a very light haul for a perennial All-Star.

I think you and a lot of other Brewers fans overestimated Gomez's value.

One thing I don't like is that Wheeler is only under control until 2019. If he manages to be really good you'd like to have him around for longer than that.

This isn't "a pitcher" coming off Tommy John, this is Zach ******* WHEELER! The guy throws mid to high 90's and he was the number 8 prospect in the nation two years ago.He has an opponent average of .237 in the majors and a 3.50 ERA in his first two seasons.

If Wheeler was healthy no way NY does him for Gomez straight up. Flores hit well through the minors and has upside. Now if Gomez was still under control past next season I dont do the trade. I also believe there is no way this level of deal would be on the table next season.

Gomez is not going to have very good numbers in Citi Field.

Wheeler is a nice add, a bit of an unknown with the injury, but he has great potential. Is he more of a fly ball out or ground ball out guy though?

Don't care for Flores, but his minor's stats are decent. Someone may have more info, but he seems like a future utility guy.

still have Garza, and Wheeler won't pitch until mid summer at the earliest.

If Wheeler is healthy, it's a win. That being said, I loved GOGO. He was so much fun to watch.

WTF, they just showed Flores crying on the field over being traded, yet he's still in the game.

Flores is still in the game for some reason and he's literally crying
