$9 m option with $2 m buyout I believe.
My total speculation guess was that the Brewers will pick up this year and the Cards can have that decision next year.

So basically even if they get nothing back they save $2M.

BREAKING: Haudricourt is now wondering who is going to pitch in relief for the Crew.

Remember when we traded them Axford and right away they told him he was tipping his pitches? After that , he was very good for them. Kind of a microcosm of the Brewer organization's erratic pitching woes if you ask me. I predict that Broxton helps them, though I'm surprised we got anything.
If they really wanted a reliever, couldn't we have included a more desirable trade asset in a Lind deal and maybe asked for Weaver in return or something? Pure speculation on my part. Just hoping they aren't keeping guys like that off the table.

Did some googling. Intriguing athlete and prospect. Cards blogs thought highly of him

Its shaping up to be quite an interesting season next year. Too bad Braun will take up more than 20% of the payroll.

When rebuilding, I don't mind how much he is getting paid.
What I do care about, however, is getting his value up in the next year or two that somebody is willing to either give up value for him or at least take on the 2018-2020ish (+2021 option) years.

Great news. Now to pick up Broxton in fantasy and watch him single handedly bring my team back from the cellar.

The "good" news about Brauns contract is that it actually goes down a little bit ($19 million in 2016-2018, $18 million in 2019 and $16 million in 2020. 2021 is a mutual option for $21 mil ($4 mil buyout).

This is an excellent trade just to get anything for Broxton. He was awful.
The prospect they got isn't performing that well, but he's young, and some are VERY high on his tools. He's a burner with decent size, a smooth, effortless swing, and a slick glove. Also, he could play all over the park, including 3rd base! Boom-bust. Could look back at this being a Lo Cain type acquisition.
If we didn't have to pick up all of Broxton's salary that was a bonus.

So we gave them 1 mil to take him and another 2 mil to cover his buyout. Not bad. Thought it would cost more than that to dump him
