Don't know if you watched one of the games the Brewers played against the Cubs where Schwarber caught but he was a complete disaster. It would take years for him to become a passable catcher if he even got there at all and since his bat is ready now, there's no reason to even try him there again.

The easy move is to trade him. He's got a ton of value and could fill the few remaining holes the Cubs have.

Besides Schwarber, this guy thinks Bryant and Soler also have defensive issues. I agree on Bryant, who reminds me of Ryan Braun at 3B. Russell and Castro up the middle will be OK, the catcher is so-so (and not just because of that dropped third strike, which was a tough chance), but the general impression I get when I see the Theo Cubs (and admittedly it isn't that often) is of a team that just gets by in the field. Playing in a small park like Wrigley in the regular season, maybe that's a nit. But the playoffs create stress for all defenses because of bad weather, occasional bad lighting because of unusual start times, and high anxiety -- all things that can turn usually adequate into problematic.

Comparing Ryan Braun to Kris Bryant defensively is likely comparing Yuniesky Betancourt to Jean Segura defensively. He's not the greatest defender at his position, but he's certainly not the worst and it's insulting to suggest it.

He's average at worst. Above average at best. Someone you certainly keep there over moving them to a corner outfield.

Really, there is something epic about how he chopped that one into the air and that electric crowd went silent.

Especially after Buck commented on now Yost was probably considering bringing in Davis and Yost looked like he was cringing in worry.

Just an epic moment.

He's been great. Even as I laugh, I'm always a little worried that the next words out of his mouth are going to be something he'll regret saying.

Such an interesting cast of former players for FS1. I oddly enjoy it in the limited I have watched them.

Don't care who wins, but this has been an enjoyable series and current game.

Ump was being lenient on that outside corner to say the least.

That rumble you just felt was millions of Torontonians jumping off of the Jays' bandwagon.

I kinda wanted to see the Jays big bats against the Mets starting rotation. Little disappointed that didn't happen. I'll never root for a big city team so I hope KC win it.

I feel so bad for Jays fans. It had to be excruciating enough just to strand a guy at third down by a single run in the 9th, but then for the ump to call that 2-1 pitch to Revere a strike had to be an extra gut punch. Maybe Revere would have ended up striking out anyways, popped out, or hit a grounder right at a drawn in infielder, but in that spot turning what should have been a 3-1 count to 2-2 instead on that pitch in that situation was a big favor to Davis and the Royals.

Man, if that exact scenario had played out the same to the Brewers, i'd have been in the fetal position. Sports can be very cruel to it's fans.

Schwarber looks like he could be a special hitter during a time in baseball where the number of really good hitters has declined quite a bit. Like Ryan Braun or Prince type of special. No way would i even consider trading him until he gets more time to see if his defense can become around average.

I'll grant though that in my view of baseball compared to a pro sport like the NBA, very few players should be considered untouchable, so sure if i was Theo and another team made me an offer for Schwarber which i simply couldn't refuse, then i could trade him. The offer would have to be pretty damn amazing.

Gutsy call by the 3B coach, too, with no outs. Watching that play develop, with Bautista taking a bad angle that prevented him from setting himself, nobody out to cut it, and just a lot of indecision resulting in a weak throw from a guy who has a pretty good arm, you realize that under the stress of season-deciding plays it's easy to forget the things you worked on in spring training.

There's always a little twinge of regret when you see how good Cain has become and think what we could have had, but good for him and good for Nedley for playing to win.
