World Series 2015
Go KC I guess but I don't really care either way.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Just hoping for maximum entertainment value. I like both teams for their style. Let's hope for a true classic with 7 tense, close games.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.

I'm rooting for the Mets, I think. But I think the Royals are going to win.

Re: World Series 2015
Yeah...he almost Yosted himself out of the thing. Herrera was throwing 100 MPH in the 7th and only threw 21 pitches, I believe. 8th inning rolls around and it's the top of Toronto's lineup. Gotta go to Madsen! It's the 8th! Herrera doesn't understand the 8th. Boom, tie game after Bautista homers.

Re: World Series 2015
I feel like I should be rooting for the Royals due to midwest, small market, Yost, ex-Brewers, and Jirschle (3rd base coach) has local ties to my home area --- but I find myself going for the Mets kinda. Maybe a little jealous too many ex-Brewers ties... With that said, I'm really just hoping for good games b/c ultimately I don't mind either team.

Re: World Series 2015
Out of the 94 pitches Mets ace Jacob deGrom threw in his five innings, the Royals only swung and missed at three of them.
Crazy.

Royals just on a magic carpet ride from the first series of the postseason, no one was going to beat them.

And to top it off, he badly outmanaged the opposing manager.

Re: World Series 2015
Royals seemed destined to win the Series. I felt the Mets led like every game deep into the game (maybe they did I guess).
Ned Yost, World Series Champion Manager. Many around here probably never thought they'd see that. I liked Ned but I didn't think he was a guy that would win a World Series. I always felt he was the guy good enough to turn programs around but someone else would need to be the one to take the next leap. Regardless happy for Ned, still think he got a raw deal here in 2008, but doesn't much matter now. He ended up with a much better story. I think they are fairly setup for the next couple years as well.

Re: World Series 2015
Yost got a team that fits his style. We can debate the merits of bunting the **** out of the ball (on the whole, a bad strategy) which he did not do so much in this postseason, or basically having chaos on the basepaths with aggressive running (again, over a season, a stupid idea)...both of these last 2 can win in the playoffs with the right team. On the whole, they're less-ideal solutions, especially over 162 games. However, with the right team makeup, you can see that it can win. He got a team where this gameplan can look really good for a period of time.
Also, he wants to have his 7th inning guy, 8th inning guy, and save his closer until he needs it as well as go with his "gut" on some pitching decisions. Once again, he had a great repertoire of bullpen arms, so it's "Yost-proof."
This is a bit of a backhanded compliment. The strategies in the first paragraph aren't a great idea over the course of a season but just throwing all hell at your opponent can work for a stretch, so kudos to him for sticking with that. The thing about having "inning" pitchers is stupid no matter what, but again, the bullpen was Yost-proof.
Good for him. Good for the Royals.

Re: World Series 2015
Bottom line is Yost had two bullpen aces and properly used them. He knew with the off days he could use Herrera and Davis for multiple innings and he did. Meanwhile, Collins only has one bullpen ace, Familia. He decided to use him in a 9-3 game when there was no reason to.
Then, in game 4 instead of going to Familia for 2 innings, which he easily could've done, even if he not used him for a meaningless inning the night before he went with Clippard, who walked two of the three batters he faced. That led to the Murphy error which allowed the run to score and then the seeing eye single which gave the Royals the lead.
Then in game 5 he lets Harvey go out for the 9th. I disagree with that as going through the lineup a fourth time is typically a disaster but at least there was a little merit for it as you can take him out when a baserunner reaches and possibly save your bullpen if he gets a clean inning. The problem was once Cain got on, he didn't immediately pull Harvey, instead allowing him to give up a double to Hosmer and then bringing in Familia to a really **** situation of runner on 2nd, nobody out down a run. Two groundouts later and it's a tie game and it goes to a bullpen battle which the Mets were never going to win with Familia already used.
Yost said let's just keep it close, using Herrera for 3 innings knowing that there's an off day the next day so he can use Herrera for a possible game 6 or 7 if needed.
It's just amazing how badly Collins managed that series.
